Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted
I've been doing this a couple weeks now. Not 20 minutes twice a day but a fair amount and I'm surprised how soft my scalp feels now.

Any changes related to hair loss count ?

sizzlinghairs wrote:Hey guys, so say if I was to focus on just the hairline. Do you think 20 minutes would be too excessive? Or would 10 minutes be more reasonable if just focusing on hairline?
would not do the hairline only...makes not much sense to get the skin loose in only certain areas when flow of blood and nutrients still get blocked off in near areas. very well possible only a restricted amount reaches your hairline then.
20 minutes should be fine I do much more everyday depends on how rough you treat your scalp though.

Thanks for your input believe. Yeah, I was meaning 20 min 2 x day on hairline might be too excessive. But what you say makes sense, should be whole scalp.
What I do right now is pinch twice over on hairline (getting more focus on hairline) and then do the rest of my scalp. Total process takes about 20 min and do it twice a day. Had a recent 4 day off period (holidays, etc) but going to get back in full swing. Am also doing boar brushing.

No, things look about the same.

Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted
you guys even able to do it in the center of your scalp? i find it literally impossible. What I do notice is that if u pinch around your galea muscle first its much easier to pinch the rest of the scalp

If you use both hands pushing up against each other you should definitely be able to do it. Not as pliable as other parts but do able.

i do pretty much the same including the brushing. started brushing into every direction, left right, along and against the grain. this really seems to do something good.

Yeah brushing is good. I didnt want to give it up when I started detumescence cause I felt like I was seeing subtle results on hairline after 1 month.
But I get concerned that I am doing too much manual with the brushing/detumsence combo sometimes. I brush 150 strokes each temple and then 150 on crown with olive in my hair. The olive oil helps add extra stimulation to brushing and was reccommended by someone else who had success. The fear of overdoing isn't really based on anything solid, just a fear..
Hopefully I should be good with doing both, as Im not creating any actual wounds or anything.

Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted
I've just been massaging my receding spots and along the hair line super hard. I just started like 2 days ago, but my scalp is less oily when I do this. Maybe because I'm literally getting my hands oily then wiping them off lol.
I can also hear and feel tissue being broken up. crunchy sort of. Kind of crazy.

I've been casually doing this for longer than 2 days (in addition to a bunch of other things) and I feel like my hairline in the receded spots has pushed forward some.... it's almost certainly mental... but when I look in the mirror I legitimately think that.

Your mind is tricking ya, 2 days is not enuff..As for as brushing, i stopped after 1.7 years, didn't see any results. I have to say tho, after doing this pinching thing, my scalp has been pretty loose, and I always have a tight scalp.

Does it feel thicker & stuff? This is truly amazing stuff isn't it? I honestly don't know if I'm doing it right, though whatever I'm doing is working for me lol. I'll pay anybody to make a video for all of us on this forum. Any takers? PM me if anything.

I definitely agree it's in my head. I've been casually massaging for a couple weeks. But if my hairline has improved at all it is probably due to the dietary/lifestyle changes I've made and not the DT.
3 days now of doing this seriously and my scalp is crazy sore!!

Hey drex, thanks for the diagrams bud.
But doesn't the study JUST talk about the pinching motion in reference to kneading? All their diagrams show that.

i think it is possible your mind doesn't trick you. i noticed something similar. maybe by stretching the skin and breaking up fibrosis the scalp spreads out a tiny bit which may result in a slightly lower hairline.

Yes, thicker and softer. Yeah, I didn't even bother reading the first part of the thread really so I didn't know if there was even some particular way you're supposed to do it, I just started going around squeezing my head with force in small areas, sometimes with two hands, sometimes with one. Over time, as you would know, it gets easier to do it with one. I also find the SlowMoe strap makes the squeezing easier. I've been kind of lax on it the last couple days and it doesn't take too long for the thickness of the scalp to start to disappear. I'm gong to see how long I can do it now.
But I see drex has posted an image of how to do it, guess I should try doing it that way!

Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted
just my experience.. but when I first started doing manual methods I head a major shed and went from a nw3 to nw4. in the recent months tho I have gone from nw4 - nw3 again with major improvement on baseline. so I'm headed toward nw2 and I couldn't be more happy about it. I feel this is the cure. for me anyway

did not experience pain before starting this method. it felt numb and out of touch.
just mangle your scalp for a few days and see how it turns out. remember keeping it relaxed during the day, especially at work.

Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted
I used to have the same thing when I was on fin and minox. It developed into a numbness after a while which is how it's been for years. A few things helped like LLT, Tom Hagerty's scalp exercise and some topicals but nothing's been as dramatic and permanent in bringing back an alive feeling to the scalp as this detumescence massage. You should be able to rid yourself of the pain in a week or two. If not, see a dermatologist.
For everyone else... You really have to be consistent with this thing. I had 4 or 5 days off partying and what not during the holiday period and there was noticeable reduction in laxity. Lost a lot of hair's doing this massage as well. Hopefully they'll all come back in.

Yea now that I think about it I did experience that A FEW times and so have others. It's inflamnation and yes Detumescence therapy will help diminish that.

This will probably be my last picture of this zoomed in kind because, no shit, it's getting hard to see as more hair comes in. The area the previous pictures were is now filled to about 20% density of hair (top left corner of pic) and you can see more new hair in there if you look. This is my barest area remaining. Look to the center of the picture for the black dots. They all have shadows if your eyesight isn't good enough to pick out the hair.
