Apple Cider Vinegar
IH, just got around to using my GNC gift card, and decided to try some apple cider vinegar tablets for indigestion. I was pleasantly surprised to read that ACV, taken internally, may also benefit the hair and scalp .
Side note: It does seem to work better than Garlinase (garlic extract), for indigestion, anyway.
From WebMD:
"There are some medical uses of vinegar that do have promise, at least according to a few studies. Here's a rundown of some more recent ones.
Diabetes. The effect of vinegar on blood glucose levels is perhaps the best-researched and the most promising of apple cider vinegar's possible health benefits. Several studies have found that vinegar may help lower glucose levels. For instance, one 2007 study of 11 people with type 2 diabetes found that taking two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bed lowered glucose levels in the morning by 4%-6%.
High cholesterol. A 2006 study showed evidence that vinegar could lower cholesterol. However, the study was done in rats, so it's too early to know how it might work in people.
Blood pressure and heart health. Another study in rats found that vinegar could lower high blood pressure. A large epidemiological study also found that people who ate oil and vinegar dressing on salads five to six times a week had lower rates of heart disease than people who didn't. However, it's far from clear that the vinegar was the reason.
Cancer. A few laboratory studies have found that vinegar may be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. Epidemiological studies of people have been confusing. One found that eating vinegar was associated with a decreased risk of esophageal cancer. Another associated it with an increased risk of bladder cancer.
Weight Loss. For thousands of years, vinegar has been used for weight loss. White vinegar (and perhaps other types) might help people feel full. A 2005 study of 12 people found that those who ate a piece of bread along with small amounts of white vinegar felt fuller and more satisfied than those who just ate the bread."

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
The Natural - I felt that the apple cider vinegar capsules I used for a while had a positive
effect on my hair. I used Now Brand for a while and it gave me terrible body odor. Hopefully
the kind you have will not. Regular apple cider vinegar is supposed to improve body odor
however.
Metro made an interesting post about potassium and I suspected that the potassium content
may have been responsible for it's positive effect.

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
I take 2-3 TBsp + 1/4 Tsp baking soda in 1 glass of water in the morning, and 1 in the afternoon (empty stomach - atleast try to take it that way). Sip it away with a straw trying to keep your teeth away from being immersed in the liquid (enamel protection).

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
OH, BTW you should Add the baking soda, then ACV - let it fizz, then only add water...

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
Believe it drastically improves alkalinity, which is something you definitely want to be in optimal health (baking soda and ACV together).

Would this oil be optimal to use when oil pulling?

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
Water + ACV + Baking Soda = Water (NOT oil)
Baking soda may not be good for teeth enamel, so the idea is not to keep it in your mouth swishing around for 20+ minutes. That's why the use of straw to drink this drink is recommended.

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
Baking soda is actually good for teeth; thats why it's in a lot of toothpastes.
It's the ACV that would mess up your tooth enamel if left on long enough.

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
You may be right, either the acidity of the ACV or the alkalinity of the BS - one of them is bad for tooth enamel...

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
Interestingly I have started rinsing with ACV + BS (final rinse) and then at times I style my hair with the spary of this solution - no itching for the last 2 weeks on my scalp, whatsoever (morning , evening, night)
Elimination of scalp irritation / itching is absolutely a positive step, I am hopeful that this is not short term effect... will keep you guys posted in this thread.
It does leave a little vinegary smell but not as bad that cannot be masked easily...

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
I'm trying the approach of drinking all my cider in one night, as I had 8 pints of cider last night and feel hungover. But atleast I won't get cancer, just need a new liver.

Re: Apple Cider Vinegar
I've been doing a tablespoon of ACV every AM with my Toco8 and I do enjoy it. Seems to get my digestive tract revved up.
