My test results
Well I got some test results, I went in hoping to get a full panel of hormone tests, but the doctor did not seem to want to give them, wtf is with that?? It was like pulling teeth to just get SHBG and Testosterone…. All she wanted to do was TSH and CBC… Where or how do you guys get the tests you want?? After all we, the patient are paying for them!
So here are the results
SHBG 22.0nmol/L (range 10-70)
Testtosterone 453 ng/dl (range 300-950)
TSH 0.736 mcU/ml (range 0.400-4.000)
On the CBC my RBC was 0.1 low (4.4), MCV 3.0 high (99), and MCH 0.5 high (33. all the rest were in range some on lower or higher ends, or just in between.
One thing to note when the blood was drawn I had a head cold, so maybe that is a cause for the CBC stuff to be Hi/Lo.
The more concern is the SHBG, Testosterone; TSH test not sure what to believe… On the SHGB and Test, how does that rate for 28 year old, with low libido and definite predisposition to MPB? I really tried and pried to get estrogen, cortisol etc levels checked with my bouts of depression stress and anxiety; as I think some of those are a bit to cause.

Re: My test results
thats the problem with blood tests. the ranges r so wide, only really far out results fall out side.
low haematocrit is a problem though. wat did the doc say about that?

Well I never spoke with the doctor, I got a letter stating results were in range and asked to get a copy of them. My HCT is 43.7 (range of 41.5-50.4)

Re: My test results
well im no expert, (im no dummy either, i hav had medical training at university)
and having a low RBC count, and yet a within range haematocrit makes no sense to me.
haematocrit is packed cell volume. (% RBCs take up when blood is spun down)
so if the rbc is low, shouldnt the haematocrit be low as well?

Re: My test results
I am going through very similar testing right now.
You could have what I think they call sub clinical thyroid disorder. It is what my doctor is looking into treating me for in a few weeks. Even though you are in the normal range, you are really on the low side. My score is actually a little higher than yours.
Also, not sure of your age, but your T levels are somewhat low. The levels are fine if you are 40-50 though.
Your SHBG levels look a lot better than mine. I was at the high end of the spectrum.
Did you get your your T3 or Reverse T3 run? Also what about DHT and androstenedione?

I am curious what your doctor is looking into treating you with, do you take iodine like CS suggusts?
On the Testosterone levels and my age I am 28, I do believe it is very low for my age. Perhaps some of the reasons for low libido, scrawny, feeling generally worn and hair loss.
Not sure on the T3, I would have to ask, and no did not get DHT and androstenedione tested, it was pulling teeth just to get Testosterone and SHBG, I tried for others...I do not see what the big deal is with my doctor, afterall its my blood and my money...
