Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted - Page 34 Empty Re: Detumescence Therapy- dedicated volunteers wanted

Just read the written part where he describes his DT method. Maybe one crucial part Im missing is pushing down on the skin after the pinch is completed.. I just do a pinch then stretch. Although Ive heard others who just do pinch/stretch without pushing down get results as well..

Does anyone have Rob's email?

Oh by the way, I was wondering...(I couldn't edit my previous post so I had to double)

Is it alright to do general, deep massages daily, NOT counting the massages involved during my DT?

As I mentioned I do very forceful, deep massages before, during, and after the pinching portion of my DT sessions. However, I also take those same forceful deep massages and do them at other times during the day, not combined with DT, just as a stand-alone. Maybe once for 15 minutes and again for 20, or whatever, something like that.

Assuming that I do them safely (I plant my fingers really hard on my scalp, and move my scalp in circular/rubbing motions, and don't create friction between scalp and fingers), is this a good idea?

So including DT and the general massages, it comes to about 1 hour and 30 minutes of work, or so.

hey i just wanted to chime in and say that i noticed something similar to sizzlinghairs. usually after a day of a long DT session my scalp seemed to be more rigid and hard to pinch, probably bit more inflamed. After a couple of days it become looser again i would even say a bit looser than before. its probably just the body recovering

Hi Alpha

I find that I very frequently (almost constantly) have my eyebrows raised in a kind of "surprised" expression without even realizing.  I caught myself doing this while doing DT therapy and noticed that it made my scalp skin almost 100% rigid while they are raised, so I now make a point of consciously trying to relax my frontalis muscles in my forehead.  That might not be what's causing it but it might be worth looking into.

Also, I gave myself a looking over in the mirror which I had tried to avoid for a few days, and I can say with 100% certainty that I have experienced a pretty serious shed, the only explanation being DT since everything else in my routine stayed the same, diet, stress, etc. I am very encouraged by this, it's only been just over two weeks. It's very hard to go through the shedding phase but I think it needs to happen before it gets better. I am quickly growing more confident in DT.

Anyone else get those "numb fingertips" JD Moyer talks about?

Since I started using my hands again, my fingertips don't go completely numb, just a decreased sensitivity in the main finger tips I use. Kind of like a callous feeling. I don't know if I should be concerned about this or not, like is it a nerve problem or just what happens with a callous where the skin gets a lot of friction therefore causing reduced feeling..

Thoughts?

I'm losing my hair by doing this method. It isn't helping at 8 months in now.

bro, just quit, I'm telling you it doesn't work. I know its hard quiting on something you put so much time into it, but sometime you just have to know when to let it go.

Actually no, but my arms get tired because I use a lot of force, I wouldn't be surprised if I gained arm strength in a month or so from this Very Happy

How do I know it isn't somehow slowing my hair loss down?

That's the thing, you have no way of knowing how you'd have looked WITHOUT doing DT. I just don't see how this can POSSIBLY be bad for your hair.

How do you know? check your previous post, every month, its the same thing, Im losing more hair then ever...I had your mind set before, that's the reason why I continue dt for so long, 1.5 years. Dt is exactly how balayam was 6 years ago, If you check youtube on it, you can see a lot of new comer still believe it in it, saying they are seeing regrowth. TBH, I was just like them once, when I first started I thought I was seeing regrowth too but after 2 years of doing it, I realize I wasn't getting any regrowth. Ill come back to this thread again in a year or 2, and its going to be the same old sht. I would love to eat my own words, but I doubt it.

I would love for you to eat your own words, too, but I don't think it is the case. Maybe I'm just putting more hope in derma rolling and diet at this point.

What´s your dermarolling protocol? I´ve been doing it once a month with a 1,5mm. Cant really tell if it´s working.

Maybe once every 2 weeks with 1.5. After that time the dead skin has peeled and it seems sturdy enough to go at it again.

Can anyone who is doing or has done DT tell me if they've experienced something similar?

So on the fingerpad areas of my two middle fingers (the ones that mainly provide my pinch) I have minorly decreased sensitivity. Kind of has the feeling of an early early stage callous. Like the skin has a more roughish type feeling. Definitely not numb but just that decreased sensitivity feeling. Maybe like the skin is a little thicker/more rough there now.

I just don't know if this is a natural response to the constant pressure/friction put on these fingers or if I should be worried its damage to the nerves. I'm really puzzled about this. Again, it's far from numb, just decreased sensitivity, like the way one's elbow feels versus the rest of the arm because the elbow always has friction/pressure being applied.

has anyone else experienced something even vaguely similar? I mean wouldn't it kinda make sense for this to happen because we are constantly pushing down there? Or am the only one experiencing this and I should be worried about my fingertip nerves..

Thanks in advance!

I can't say that I've experienced any kind of numbness, but my fingers get very sore since I apply a lot of pressure during my massages

20 minutes twice a day is simply too long to be messaging your scalp with your fingers. It's just unreasonable. I've tried the substitutes like the wooden hairbrushes and bristle-boar, but they either don't make the scalp red enough, or simply make your hair a mess.

Bocor mentioned he was using a metal meat tenderizer-- and overall, I feel that is the way to go. It's not tiring on your hands at all, and it quickly floods the scalp with blood better than any device I have used. You don't have to "brush" either, just press the metal indentions into your scalp. I also press and twist, which seems to loosen the scalp considerably. I know it sounds crazy, but for blood flow it works. It's hard to imagine it not doing something for fibrosis and lymph as well.

You can still pinch and message with your fingers, but a tenderizer should take some of the pressure off your hands.

Post  rofl Sat Jun 06, 2015 12:49 am

yep, thats pretty much what ive thought this whole time, although ive also thought this would never work, and still dont think it does, but i digress.

its just too long. people may do it for a few months, possible up to a yr. a few have done longer, but 20 mins twice a day for the rest of your life, its just not going to happen, and if someone is dedicated to do it, then after a few years it will kill your fingers and hands.

if it does actually work, there must be a way of replicating it with a machine. theres a few head massagers that have little pads that turn.

Sigh, this is driving me nuts.. I just want to do DT in peace, whether it works or not... I wanna give it that 10 month run in peace...

I don't know if what im experiencing is a light callus, or if it is nerve damage in the finger tips. I'm trying my fingers now because the stones seem to rough for my scalp at the moment..

It is only the very tip of my middle fingers (the main ones I use for DT pinching), nowhere else. They are far from numb. When I use a pen tip lightly over the top of them I can feel it 100%, but when I scrape my finger nail across, the sensation is diminished compared to my other fingers.

I hope Im just concerned over nothing and its a light callus. How does one differentiate between a light callus and nerve damage? There is no real dry skin, it just feels a bit more hardened or at least the illusion of feeling more hardened.

God, if you are up there, please give me the insight into what's really going on. Or better yet, please let me do this therapy in peace....

Any insight massively appreciated.

Hey Sizzle

I wouldn't worry about it, I'm applying a LOT of pressure and my fingers feel fine. Are you sure that didn't start BEFORE DT? Because your scalp isn't a rough surface (relatively speaking), so I'd think it would be impossible to have such callouses from DT?

Well for what it's worth, I still wouldn't worry about it the way you described, but seeing a doctor is a good idea simply to alleviate your worry

Also, I was doing some DT massages today, then took my boar bristle brush and pressed it down onto my temples, and I got a MASSIVE amount of dead skin/dandruff. I mean, it was like I sprinkled powdered sugar on myself, I had to take another shower. I was very pleased. Perhaps DT is finally knocking some more crap loose, because I've NEVER had this kind of dandruff/dead skin release!

I've also changed my pinching technique, I pinch with my thumbnail, and my index and middle fingernails on my problem areas. It hurts but it's definitely tolerable. I do the two handed "scrunches" as well still, but I'm really trying to focus on the proper style of pinching I mentioned. I'd say my temples have loosened up a bit as I can pinch them now, albeit with some pain. But I couldn't care less how much it hurts, hair loss has me furious Twisted Evil
