Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Damn.. You guys are accelerating hair loss big time by doing this. Intermittent fasting (mainly due to having low insulin levels for long periods) promotes Human Growth Hormone intensively. What does happen when one take hgh? His skull, hands etc grow big time (Barry Bonds).

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Do you think your antecessors ate all day? Your body evolved to actually require fasting periods to detox itself.
Even homeless people that experiment forced fasting seem to have less hairloss than most of the "normal" population that eats 6 meals a day. Voluntary fasting is better than forced fasting because of cortisol levels.
One simple search in google will show you that one effect of HGH is hair growth.

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Yes a fasting once in a while for detox and neurogenesis is healthy. Our ancestors mostly didnt have a skull shape that made hair loss possible because this was induced by the invention of agriculture.
You minsunderstand the role of hgh in what accelerates hair loss. It is good for hair follicles but in the long term it is growing your skull even more you can find tons of bodybuilders that are proofs, and it certainly doesnt regrow bald patches.

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Not all fasts are the same. I'm not saying that you should be without eating for days. Fasting for 16 hours a day is completely normal and our body is adapted to it. Even a complete day without eating once in a while is normal for an human with hunter-gatherer genetics.
I have to say do fasts as long as you feel good about it, forced fasting is bad, you'll be stressed and your cortisol levels will rise. For me voluntary intermittent fasting feels completely normal.
You can find very informative TEDx Talks videos on YouTube about the benefits of fasting.
We are spoiled by a consumption society by thinking we have to eat in every 3 hours. Sell sell sell, buy buy buy.

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
"Estrogen produces increased GH, and increases its production in stress." (fasting is a form of physical stress, forced or not)
"GH is known to antagonize insulin, and one of the ways it does this is simply by the ability of increased free fatty acids to block the oxidation of glucose. At puberty, the increased GH creates a mild degree of diabetes-like insulin resistance, which tends to increase progressively with age."
If anything, this shows the link between insulin resistance and balding men, they already have too much GH.

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Elephanto if you want I can post a lot of experiments with mice and chimps where the subjects that were fasting were more active, smarter and actually lived longer.
Even BBC had an documentary called Eat, Fast and Live Longer.
Unfortunately in a capitalism society sometimes science and propaganda are difficult to differentiate. You can have a lot of studies about the same topic with different conclusions. Follow the money, who paid for it and who benefits for it's conclusions.
I'm always suspicious from "studies" and conclusions coming from USA, country where lobbies are stronger than every where else in the world.

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
Reposting this for you guys. Everything in there I've found in studies. If you believe hgh is good for you, use this information appropriately.
Pro Human Growth Hormone :
Intermittent Fasting
High protein diet
High Intensity Interval Training / Heavy Weight Training (Catabolic training)
Estrogen
amino acids arginine, lysine, ornithine
L-Dopa
Niacin/Niacinamide ("They determined it was the free fatty acid lowering ability of niacin per se that resulted in increased GH
secretion")
Taurine
aldosterone (lack of sodium)
Nitric Oxide
Zinc deficiency (higher leptin sensitivity)
Growth Factor 9 supp
Heat
Stress
Endotoxin (septic shock)
IGF-1 ("Most of GH's effect occurs through stimulation of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1, somatomedin C), primarily by the liver.")
anti Human Growth Hormone :
aromatase inhibitors (dht, vitamin e, nicotine, coffee, chrysin/honey, flavanoids, apple cider vinegar)
DHT (creatine, boron, not using alpha-5 reductase inhibitors such as fin/saw palmetto/progesterone)
Endurance Running
Low intensity aerobic exercice 60 mins everyday lowers igf-1/gh
High Insulin (not sure, need more research)
Post-training carb intake
Coldness
Stimulus-deprivation
Prolactin
Somatostatin (ironically it also inhibits prolactin)
Ingestion of resistant starch, saturated fat (protects from endotoxin) and other antiseptic strategies
IGF-1 also supresses the production of GH as a part of a negative feedback loop

Re: Fasting and Intermittent Fasting Advice
I found fasting in the day for 12 to 14 hours very effective in losing weight. And yes, you've to make sure to take the similar amount of calories you take your normal days.
