Prague - What Are You Using?
Heya all, this is directed at Prague,
You were one of the first to advocate Maca, and following that you said that you were travelling round looking for substances that would compliment your calcium theory. Have you had any progress - you mentioned that felt that one of two things you were taking was working but you weren't sure which ones.

I'm also curious about how well his theory has been testing.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
I'm using a topical I put together: It's a topical papaine - first I dissolved some extra papaine in papaya seeds oil (was not sure about it's papaine content that's why I added some extra papaine), then i mixed papaine with dmso which is what i'm using - i could swear this is the best thing i've ever used for my hair (I got lots of hair back and my entire hair got very strong, great results that people make comments about) but it's up to each of you if you want to try this mix and you will see if this one works for you - btw a friend of mine got some amazing results in less than 3 monts too with this topical
if you try it, please report for the others

Hey Prague-- do you have a source for papaine? Would you mind shedding a little light on the papaine/dmso ratio you're using? Would love to try and report results.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
Hi Prague
One of my heroes! Thanks so much for that, are you using Maca still? Any internals ? Sorry to bother you, but you are a real frontier guy - I am wondering if your topical can replace the sand paper in my current protocal.
I have heard of success with Papaya before... I wonder what it's mode of action is?
Any internals btw, you were talking about Calcium issues before - or is the Papaya tackling this?

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
Hi Prague, was this what gave you the idea?
Methods for reducing calcium deposits
United States Patent 4250167
Abstract:
An inert calcium deposit located beneath the surface of the skin is reduced by application to the outside of the skin of a composition comprising dimethyl sulfoxide and papain, the enzyme found in papaya. The dimethyl sulfoxide transports the enzyme through the skin toward the location of the inert calcium, minutely dissolves the inert calcium and through the natural body circulatory processes removes the liquified calcium from the area and purges it from the body.
The dimethyl sulfoxide penetrates the body without disturbing normal body functions and the natural herbal enzyme papain then performs the function of dissolving inert calcium.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
Interestingly - in the Asian Sub continent (and may be other places) - Papaya is used as a meat tenderizer. You can take a bunch of red meat, mix it with Young (green) Papaya paste and leave it in for few hours and it will be very tender, ready for Kebabs....
Why it is not a problem for us to eat papaya is because the strong acid in our stomach would neuter the otherwise stong Papaya enzymes, and get it to a state where it is not "as effective" as tenderizing meat on contact. So there is a way to minimize the effect.
My concern is that applying this "heavy duty" stuff directly bypassing the gut acidic environment can be problematic. Perhaps if applied diluted enough, it may be OK - just something to think about. Papaya by itself is a Strong tenderizer.

Hi Lund -
Why is it a strong tenderiser? In terms of the mechanism?

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
gbp2000 - I've got a guess. The enzyme of the Papaya is similar to Bromelain, the enzyme from the pineapple skin. They are both proteolytic enzymes, sever peptide bonds and suppress TGF-beta.

Prague - What Are You Using?
Very interesting thing, supposed Papayaseeds - taken oral - have
the following effect
- against diarrhea, intestinal parasites, mycosis
- against estrogen- dominance!
(I've got it from a german site, don't wont to bore you with it)
From my point of view combining both methods (oral and topical) could maybe amplify the effectiveness enourmous.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
Probably in androgen dependent hair such as facial hair growth.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
There does seem to be an odd relationship between androgen dependant hair and non dependant. I wonder if DHT drives beard growth? Well, I don't have much of a beard anyway but I keep the Papin for my head.

Prague, did your regrowth cover both of our sensible areas?
Receding hairline and vertex area?
Could you give a little more detailed description, what's the dosage of your regimen?
Thanks a lot.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
here's what i was/am doing:
(please do not take all I say as a holy word, i work on a try/error basis)
I bought papaya seeds oil (was not sure about the papain content so i added some extra papain - do not ask me how much, I have no idea just get sure you get some papain on your head) and added some hyaluronic acid into it - the idea is to dissolve the cross-linked collagen in your scapl and replace it by a new one, also to dissolve the proteins in your scalp that migt cause the hardening of your scalp (Dkk? gluthen, calcium depostits) - I have no precise idea how this works, only hypothesis - i usually try it on my face and this mix is a miracle you put it once on your face overnight and you look 5 years younger in the moorning - no kidding, i have tried some expensive face treatments and nothing beats this one)
I also in the beginning mixed some lyposomal heparin (viatromb) with creatine and carnitine and applied on my scalp every day during one month - http://ang.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/58/1S/21S - you might consider this one as useless but it fitted to my hypothesis, btw there's a french patent for hair regrowth using liposomal heparine
once a week or more I put a green clay mask on my head - for ph balance, chelation, cleanse and mineral supply
internally i'm still on the same regimen, i concentrate on estrogenes / testosterone ratio (kudzu, maca, apigenin, naringenin, passionflower, damiana, maca, ashwagandha, mucuna pruriens, curcumin, pollen, grean tea-pine bark, cod liver oil, ZMA) i added on glutamine, colostrum (great one), chelated Mg-K aspartate, inositol, papain/bromelain, biosil - i 'd like to add POTABA, calcium d glucarate, lugol and EC
warrior/antiestrogenic diet, gluthen free - this i consider extremely important, i've seen people that got some regrowth only by avoiding gluthen and i feel gluthen migh be the main reason of skin hardening (note that papain/bromelain dissolve this protein when taken internally - so yes, the topical application plus pap/bromelain internally is a great idea

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
Prague, I think ACV is acidic so it may better to drink lemon juice in a glass of water on an empty stomach (like in the morning), and ACV in the evening with meal since it improves digesiton twofold by natural enzymes and increased acidity. I dont feel a need to increase acidity or digestion in the morning. On the other hand, fresh lemon juice detox and increase alkalinity on an empty stomach .. ACV is abit like redwine.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
thanks cpio - i do drink cider in the evening
ACV is actually alkalising since it has some high levels of potassium - which i feel crucial for combating hairloss - you cant get over 2g in a bottle of a good cider

Hey Prague thanks for stopping by and helping out.
Just curious what you are using for your source of papain. Did you find a pure powder source of papain or are you just using crushed up tablets, fillers and all?
Also approximately how much DMSO are you mixing with the oil/papain?
Thanks heaps.

One reason I would not enjoy a 100% gluten free diet, no more pasta at all. I dont care about bread but a good spaghetti is great especially with a hot bolognese sauce or spiced tomato.

I have found a really good, gluten free, pasta made out of rice bran. Unlike some other brands the consistency and the taste is almost spot on.

Re: Prague - What Are You Using?
I am not sure what Prague is using but I have found a couple sources of pure Papain powder. Unfortunately you usually have to buy at least a pound, which is an awful lot. All the dietary supplements I have found are tabs and contains fillers, which I would hate to add to DMSO.
Also I was wondering if this could be done with other proteolytic enzymes like bromelain, serrapeptase or nattokinase. It would be pretty easy to break open a cap of the serrapeptase and get a pure powder to add to something containing a bit of DMSO.
I am going to have to look into it more but I am sure there are some differences between the different types of proteolytic enzymes.
