Vitamin D news - "the majority of Americans have sufficient levels of vitamin D" lol

The IOM report proposes a recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin D of 600 international units (IU) a day for most healthy adults. The RDA goes up to 800 IU a day for adults age 71 and older. The tolerable upper level intake, the level that is considered the upper safe boundary — not the amount people should strive to meet, is 4,000 IU for adults.

The good news from the IOM report is that the majority of Americans and Canadians have sufficient levels of vitamin D, with the possible exception of elderly individuals who may have lower vitamin D levels due to diet or limited sun exposure.
