coconut oil a DHT inhibitor?
Sort of reminiscing about the past and different natural products that were supposed to suppress DHT. Saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, safflower oil, caffeine...there were quite a few. I just noticed that coconut oil, with all its fatty acid content, does the same and it was observed in animal trials. It has to be taken orally too. Which is better than rubbing it all over your scalp. I know someone who takes a teaspoon of it everyday to keep his brain sharp and he also has lots of hair. Maybe its worth a try?

Once someone gets acclimated to coconut oil (if they are taking in a tablespoon plus), will increase ketone bodies, which enhances cognitive functions.
Anyway, it's the lauric acid in the coconut oil that does most of the work on the "DHT" front, however only in vitro animal experiments.

It might work in humans, just nothing yet confirming it.

Re: coconut oil a DHT inhibitor?
This may sound silly but I've been taking a teaspoon a day of premium liquid coconut oil with 93% MCTs (expensive stuff!) for just over a week now and my hair looks and "feels" a bit thicker. You can almost feel the extra weight lol. My eyebrows, which are normally pretty sparse, seem longer and darker too.
I look at the top of my head under a bright light in the bathroom and it does look like less scalp reflecting the light. Maybe the hair shafts got thicker a bit? I also rub the oil on my scalp at night before going to bed hoping it will absorb some too.
Probably just wishful thinking since it's pretty early in the experiment. But I will let you know if there are any dramatic results. I don't like taking pics of my hair and posting them...don't know how actually...so you'll have to take my word for it lol

Anybody else trying a teaspoon a day of high MCT coconut oil? I swear my hair looks thicker. I even see small hairs growing. Unless its old hairs that have fallen out and growing back weaker. Hard to tell. But it definitely looks thicker.
