I-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate represses the dihydrotestosterone-induced dickkopf-1 expression in human balding dermal papilla cells.

Recent studies suggested that dihydrotestosterone (DHT)-driven alteration in the autocrine and paracrine factors may be a key to androgen-potentiated balding. Also, we recently claimed that DHT-inducible dickkopf-1 (DKK-1) is one of the key factors involved in the androgen-potentiated balding. Here, we investigated whether I-ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (Asc 2-P), a derivative of I-ascorbic acid, could attenuate DHT-induced DKK-1 expression in dermal papilla cells (DPCs) from balding scalp. We observed that DHT-induced DKK-1 mRNA expression was attenuated in the presence of Asc 2-P as examined by RT-PCR analysis. In addition, we found that DHT-induced activation of luciferase reporter activity was significantly repressed when Asc 2-P was added together with DHT. Moreover, Asc 2-P repressed DHT-induced DKK-1 protein expression as examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Although there will be many hurdles to apply our finding to actual remedies, these results suggest that it would be worthy to evaluate Asc 2-P or its derivatives for the treatment and prevention of androgen-driven balding.
Both myself and Jdp701/710 tried this topically, it was not very absorbable even with DMSO added. Perhaps an internal experience is worth it, because this is pretty significant.

Whip - Thanks for that first link!
Having using two different forms of topical L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphate, with difficulty absorption, if I try again will have to be liposomal.

Hmm, I still have the ultrasonic cleaner mentioned in that article on how to make your own liposomal vitamin c. I wonder if these revelations on MAP would merit buying some lecithin and finally giving it a try. Will have to do some more research on it, but it seems like liposomal MAP might be a good addition to a shampoo, or failing that, a post shampoo rinse.

TheFunkyStumpfighter - I was thinking that, or there is a study that shows MSM will increase permeability through the skin of MAP.

Re: I-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate represses the dihydrotestosterone-induced dickkopf-1 expression in human balding dermal papilla cells.
RobHealthMan - Unfortunately not, as whip's post shows that L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphate (MAP) will convert into plain ascorbic acid, which will do nothing for dermal papilla.
However, theoretically if it can be penetrated through the scalp via liposomes. Or one can try making an oral preparation by encapsulating MAP in liposomes. The reason this may work is because it make allow MAP to be stable until it enters the cell, although it may not necessarily reach the dermal papilla in the concentration that we hope.
More about how to do this here, thanks to Littlefighter:
https://immortalhair.forumotion.com/natural-hair-regrowth-f1/homemade-detoxamin-for-decalcification-t2996.htm
On a similar subject, which I recently posted, there is probably a much easier way to increase versican in the dermal papilla and that is in this thread:
https://immortalhair.forumotion.com/natural-hair-regrowth-f1/versican-targeting-by-rna-interference-suppresses-aggregative-growth-of-dermal-papilla-cells-t4409.htm
In short, high-dose condroitin sulfate, taken orally.
