Skull Expansion? Empty Skull Expansion?

Post  baller234 Mon Jul 05, 2010 1:58 am

What are everyone's thoughts on skull expansion? I've been reading alot about it lately and I'm convinced that it plays a role for some people (It's definitely not the sole cause since androgens have been shown to damage hair follicles in vitro). My hair loss is only at the temples and corners where it juts back half an inch from my hair line. The skin at my corners/temples is also very bony/thin. This could also explain why I lost my corners/temples soon after entering puberty (rapid bone growth).

If this has already been discussed I apologize but I used the search function and nothing came up.

What does this have to do with androgen sensitivity and androgen triggered inflammation ?

Skull Expansion does seem feasible. I have noticed a sharp correlation with milk consumption and baldness...for instance balding men are known to have higher free-IGF-1 levels than non-balding men. Excuse me but isn't IGF-1 the most powerful bone-growth promoter in the human body! Also another theory of mine is that aliens are just humans coming back from the future. Well, what do aliens look like? Huge baldheads. But then again, being bald might just make the head seem larger. Could it be that our brains are becoming enlarged too? Personally, I don't believe the skull expansion theory, though it does seem feasible...I'm more of a sebum theory man myself... but when you see heads that look like this... it makes me wonder!

There is definitely a correlation (bald heads are usually round while people with hair have a more squarish head) and it clearly explains the pattern.

Nrwgnkid- just do a quick google search of skull expansion if you want to get a quick premise of what it is.

Not a believer myself. I've seen a diverse range of head shapes of men who are bald. There are a lot of people with odd head shapes that aren't recognizable because of their hair. Being bald in a lot of cases just makes peoples heads look bigger.

I'm not sure sure that I believe in all of the theory of skull expansion, but I think the theory of calcification of the scalp & other soft tissues definitely has some merit. I think there have been several studies done on calcification. In my case, I dont think my skull has grown at all since I started losing hair. What I have noticed are hard spots on the edges of my temples and hairline - calcium deposits possibly? Im not sure. I do know that part of IH's regimen is to keep calcium from going where it doesnt belong. JDP and others have talked at length about calcification too.
