DMSO and Lithium rinse results

I recently got the DMSO and Lithuim Oroate, and proceeded to mix with one of those organic shampoos. If ANY of you get a super greasy scalp within a few hours of taking a shower, then this is your stuff. I used to go through the day and in about 4 hours, I would get a really slick forehead and shiny scalp. With this, it tends to reduce my sebum production substaintially, perhaps even reducing my hairloss (I noticed before much fell out later in the day, where my scalp was pretty saturated in sebum, giving off this odd smell). Anyways, thanks a lot CS, I'm sure with continued use, it will give even better results. I'm just posting this so people are aware that this is probably better then the majority of topicals discussed here, as the results can be reproduced without significant shedding. Fight on guys!

Dave, how much DMSO are you putting into the shampoo? One problem for me is the awful garlic smell I get during and after shampooing. Maybe I put too much in (8 oz bottle of Aubreys), but I'm almost afraid to try it again and waste a good bottle of shampoo.

Would it be allright to just use the crushed Lithium Orotate and let it sit for five minutes or so?

First off I use that reccomended biotin shampoo which has a strong mint smell. What I did for mixing was put a tea spoon of DMSO (probably a little bit more) and 2 teaspoons of lithium oroate (which was already in powder form) into the shampoo bottle and gave it a shake. I honestly get no "garlic" smell you describe.

The whole point of the DMSO is for the lithuim to penetrate. So yeah, it's kind of important as they are synergistic. Ask CS about that odd smell perhaps.

does this get rid of bacteria and fungus on your scalp?

Using a small amount (two teaspoons of DMSO) should have no smell. Theoretically DMSO will help increase Wnt signaling, but can only do so if Lithium is there to downregulate GSK-3beta. Its downregulation controls sebum.

It works better than ketoconazole (nizoral).

Yes it also controls malassezia (yeasts and fungi). However, it does not control bacteria so much.

Hello all, i just got my DSMO today too, solid as a rock! gonna mix up the potion very soon here! Anybody trying it with the caffeine? I used caffine before only it had a great effect on my hair! i have naturally curly shoulder length hair. That caffeine just adds insane body to my hair makes my curls go nuts. but that stuff doesn't dissolve all that well. haven't decide if i'm gonna use it yet> i may just try it as intended first.

also i was thinking of try CS's idea of applying the Potassium Chloride Powder to the lather, & see if i can do it without the side effect of odor that he experienced.

moj - I used to blend in caffeine in the past, but I stopped after finding that getting the perfect amount in there was no easy to do (I would find myself with a headache) often. So I took it off my page and I also found that it didn't seem to enhance anything, at least in my experience.

I am still wondering to this day if the autonomic nervous system will determine is potassium is beneficial or not in extra amounts, (dominant branch for me is parasympathetic) and may not need the potassium as much as others. I wasn't able to tell on my own if I smelled, so note to ask your GF or someone else who will give you an honest appraisal of your scent.

I used just a tad of caffiene to the mix.

wow the stuff really had my longer hair feeling a bit stipped dry & wired just after rinse, definately need condtioner.
FAR greater effect than that of stripping that nizoral provided.
it's gotta be doin something!

i have trouble dry flyaway easily.

Is it safe to use this on your face/nose? I have huge pores on my nose that are prone to blackheads/whiteheads.

j87x - Probably would be safe.

CS, I noticed it doesn't work well at all on facial skin (in terms of sebum production in my case). My scalp seems to keep from getting over-oily, but my forehead still gets slicked easily. I just use those alcohol pads you can grab from the pharmacy and it cleans it up perfectly.
