Hydration for the Skin
Is there a way to permanently increase hydration in the skin effectively?
With moisturisers it doesn't last long, but if there was some supplement or diet changes that you found effective resolve from the root of the problem.

Re: Hydration for the Skin
I have had dry skin for many years- I think it's mostly linked with inflammation, which may be rooted in candida (which I'm addressing with oregano oil)
As far as nutrients go, I've noticed skin hydrating effects from potassium, copper and taurine most notably. However, taking all collagen creating cofactors (vit c, zinc, copper) is a good idea to increase hydration.
I believe CS has mentioned that ecklonia cava also hydrates the skin

One of the phlorotannins in ecklonia cava, called dieckol, appears increase hyaluronic acid production in human skin cells by activating the Smad signaling pathway. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that helps retain moisture and elasticity in the skin.
That being said, hyaluronic acid itself also helps.

The combination of those two is remarkable.
Then, there's iodine.
On some level iodine may help with skin hydration if iodine level is not optimal. Iodine deficiency can cause dry and flaky skin, as well as reduced sweating, which can affect skin moisture. Also some of the halides (fluoride, chlorine, bromine, etc.) have competitive inhibition towards iodine absorption will contribute to dry skin.

Re: Hydration for the Skin
Interested to try the oral hyaluronic acid combined with ecklonia cava, thanks CS. Which brand ecklonia cava are you using currently, as obviously ortho-nutrition has disappeared for good?

Most of those products are available, except for lipoic acid and krill oil.
That said, I'll have to update the links for the two.
