Yes. A similar thing was done during the Chernobyl disaster. People and children took heroic dosage of a less refined substance, still containing most of the co-factors. It made a remarkable difference in the health from the radiation.

Also in contrast to taking straight iodine in the inorganic form, this is in the organic form and also contains co-factors, so it's going to be well received and significantly less likely to produce any sort of negative side-effect.
