IH,

I recently had to have varicose vein surgery on both of my legs. They used a laser and then did an ambulatory phlebectomy to rip the great saphenous veins out that had turned varicose. I had to have it done as the vein was leaking hemoglobin into my ankle and causing my skin to turn reddish brown.

Believe it or not the first doctor who looked at it thought it was an ankle sprain. Yeah.

Anyway, while I've been recuperating I've all of a sudden developed a pretty bad case of reflux. I think it's mostly because I haven't been doing my normal workout routine until I'm given clearance.

What would you recommend to deal with reflux symptoms? It gets pretty bad at times and gives me the upper abdomen/chest pain until I take a Tums or Zantec which knocks it right out. It's not a heart issue as I had my doctor check that out.

I also noticed that Jarrow pro-biotic is bloating me after I take it lately. Not sure what that is about. When I stop taking it, the bloating goes away.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

hadrion - You might try taking heart burn free by enzymatic therapy. It increases the surface tension in the esophageal spincture, essentially training it to stay shut. It is taken every other day for 10 doses, then you're done.

Or you could buy DGL (de-glycyrrhizinated licorice), it will provide excellent relief while you're waiting for symptoms to subside.

If this condition persists, I can offer you some other measures.

Incidently, Pycnogenol is superior to any drug for chronic venous insufficiency, it can help reduce or prevent veink leaks by increasing the strength of the vein walls.
