Iron absorption Empty Iron absorption

Post  thelibrarian Sat Apr 04, 2009 12:43 pm

As i have mentioned once or twice my wife gave birth to our daughter just over a year ago. over the last few months she has been experiencing EXTREME fatigue. She has recently had blood tests done and she is very very low in her iron supplies.

Immortal I would really aprreciate any insight you may have on how to speedily restore her iron status. What ,besides iron, of course, should we be aware of.

Thanks so much for any insight!

thelibrarian - The best way to increase iron absorption is what was done in the early part of the 20th Century. Taking either glutamic acid hydrochloride or betaine HCL tablets with a meal. The best food to eat that contains iron is Grass-fed beef. Taking a 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C will further increase absorption.

Avoid Ferrous sulfate, which is what all the doctors recommend. It's not gentle on the stomach and causes constipation.

If she's not into the idea of grass-fed beef, this form of iron would be a good supplement to take:
