Collagen Production Stops at 30? Empty Collagen Production Stops at 30?

Post  ViolatedBird Sun Sep 16, 2012 10:51 pm

I've just read a few posts here about HA, BioSil, topical vitamin C and other supplements intended to boost collagen production.

I've also recently heard that the body's ability to produce collage stops at age 30. From there, you simply lose about 1% of the remaining per annum.

Is there any truth to this?

I believe that is probably accurate. I've heard CS say that he believed skin starts to go downhill as early as 27. But that's one of the benefits of the regimens here, they should help keep skin youthful longer. I've seen pictures of CS and Nid and both of these guys have pretty great complexion. I think if you combined the top 6, a generally healthy lifestyle, and some of the supplements you mentioned, and perhaps went as far as using the dermaroller and rejuveplex as a topical, you'd probably be surprised at how long you can keep skin looking youthful.

I second anthonyspencer54. Collagen production begins to wain at age 27. Not everyone takes a hit quite as bad as others though. Some women and men have the ability to maintain very nice skin for many years beyond the norm. Supplements definitely help, especially the ones that promote collagen synthesis and inhibit the breakdown of it.

If the body stops synthesizing collagen for unknown reasons seemingly related to time alone vs. hormonal status, how would supplementation help when the body has disabled synthesis?

For example, if the Leydig cells in the testes ceased production of testosterone, no form of LH enhancers would result in any extra T.
