Is testosterone alone good or bad for hair?

My observation is that bald people I see have symptoms of low testosterone. Can testosterone alone harm hair or no? I did read a study on people who couldn't produce dht but had normals levels of testosterone never went bald which makes me think that T is good for hair.

My understanding is one hormone in isolation is neither good nor bad - but that ratio of hormones to one another is what really makes a difference.

Personally, I want to raise testosterone and lower Estrogen as much as possible.

Testosterone is something very desirable to raise. Lab tests vary greatly and hypogonadism (doctorese for low testosterone levels) is frequently associated with MPB.

When thyroid levels are low, this is a state of metabolic insufficiency, and as such places a greater emphasis in the body on estrogen (and aromatase). One way to look at it, is that low testosterone may increase the likelihood that more DHT will enter the equation to compensate, since it is significantly more potent than testosterone.

In younger males when high testosterone is the norm, it is usually a low SHBG is a problem, but also a symptom of thyroid dysfunction.
