From the study he cites...
"The findings clearly indicate the strong impact that coconut oil application has to hair as compared to application of both sunflower and mineral oils. ...
Both sunflower and mineral oils do not help at all in reducing the protein loss from hair. This difference in results could arise from the composition of each of these oils. Coconut oil, being a triglyceride of lauric acid (principal fatty acid), has a high affinity for hair proteins and, because of its low molecular weight and straight linear chain, is able to penetrate inside the hair shaft.
Mineral oil, being a hydrocarbon, has no affinity for proteins and therefore is not able to penetrate and yield better results. In the case of sunflower oil, although it is a triglyceride of linoleic acid, because of its bulky structure due to the presence of double bonds, it does not penetrate the fiber, consequently resulting in no favorable impact on protein loss."

Is there some way to put coconut oil in a spray bottle? I have some and it remains solid unless it's heated. Would heated coconut oil be thin enough for the use of a spray bottle?

Do it 3-4 times a weak with a nice massage. If I am to lazy to massage Im rub it in my head and comb my thinning hair with it. I noticed stronger hair from the remaning hair I have and almost no shedding so far. No regrowth, but I will be patient and might try adding EMU oil. Its time!

The fact that it is solid at room temperature makes this a bit inconvenient.

Do anyone know if it's comodogenic or not? I have found a lot of differing views on this...

It's really not inconvenient. You just scoop some out and rub it between your palms. It instantly melts.

So when do you apply it? I cant think of a good time since I wouldn't want it on my head all day nor at night when in bed.

It is great on your head or face all day. It highly absorbs into skin and hair. It isn't going to leave your pillow greasy or your face looking oily. You just use a little bit. It goes a long way. I usually throw it on before bed, but I have used it in my hair to "style it" too. If you just use a little bit you don't feel like a grease ball. Rub your face with a towel after helps get the excess off.
