Where do you get your BUTTER from?
I wanted to cook my foods with Butter or Coconut oil. Since no one at my home likes to use coconut oil as a cooking oil, i went to the nearest whole foods store to get butter. I found 20 varieties of butter over there except for grass fed butter.
Where do you get your Butter from? I was reading in the earlier posts that grass fed non pasteurized organic butter is the best. Can anyone suggest me a particular brand that you buy?
Thanks

well unless you live in a state where raw dairy is legal might be hard to find, but why do they not like coconut oil if you get refined coconut oil for cooking it doesn't have a coconut taste at all.

I actually get my grass fed butter from Whole Foods, the Kerry Gold brand. It is in a weird location though, in the gourmet cheese section. They just started selling the large tub version at Costco believe it or not, for less than $6 per pound. It is incredible.

I am reluctant about using Ghee as i think the fats and calories it contains would be overwhelming for the lack of inactivity that I have in certain days.

They are not that dissimilar:

Click on the link and enter butter in the search bar, select unsalted, and compare the two.

not really just has coconut taste removed coconuts fatty acids don't oxidize as near as much as any mostly PUFA oil under lots of heat.

tom - don't know where you're located in the world but if you're near a Trader Joes they sell Kerrygold butter there as well. I had a similar issue with my wife not wanting to cook in coconut oil, so we used that butter. Now she loves cooking in both coconut oil and Kerrygold. She bakes with coconut oil now. She makes a gluten free brownie with it that is amazing.

Ha that is made down the road from me! I can assure you those cows are well looked after. But I would say most butters are pretty good anyway and there are some really good organic ones out there.
