Issue Swallowing Capsules
I've always had an issue swallowing pills of any kind... they tend to get lodged in the little pocket in front of the esophagus opening I guess it is. Usually these dissolve overnight or a day later, but this happens with over half the pills I take, especially the large ones. So, I usually empty the capsules into my mouth and wash them down, problem solved.... BUT.... I recently started taking serrapeptase capsules, enterically coated, and 2 of 3 have gotten stuck. Unfortunately, I can't empty the contents out as I do the others.
Anyone have a suggestion how to dislodge these pills since they probably won't dissolve there? Would sipping baking soda + water and draining it into the area help melt them?
Is there any known way I can empty these capsules and still ensure they aren't dissolved by stomach acids?
Really important to me..... thanks...

Eat something, if they feel like they are still there it's propably shadow pain
You can take them first thing in the morning but I wouldn't count on it. Next time dip them in honey, nutella or something. Is there any known way I can empty these capsules and still ensure they aren't dissolved by stomach acids?

For sure, but for some reason it hasn't gotten any easier over the years.

I've eaten two meals since, and I can feel slight movement and sensation if I clear my throat. But I can't be 100% sure, guess I'll just assume for awhile.

Was considering butter or something, or taking them with a thicker liquid, but I'm not sure if the enzyme would digest the liquid (like OJ) before it's absorbed.

Re: Issue Swallowing Capsules
The dipping suggestion was intended to use with an unopened capsule....just to make the swallowing easier. If you want to open it, it will depend on how much stomach acid you have at that moment. There is no alternative to enteric coating......well you could coat it thickly with syrup but that is just as hard to swallow

Re: Issue Swallowing Capsules
Yeah I assumed it was to help it slide down easier. I'm not sure how much the stomach dissolves, but with 120k unit count, would a sufficient amount get through? I know it still depends on the stomach acid content, lets say... first thing in the morning. I'm generally feeling hungry of course. Seems like a waste of money if I did ultimately open them though, but if they are indeed lodged I definitely don't want another one stuck!

I don't see how they could get stuck for longer than your next meal......if not they would dissolve sooner or later, enteric coating is only a timerelease mechanism.
