Increased levels of Insulin Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) have been correlated to vertex balding?

according to Wikipedia it is, and gives a source

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgenic_alopecia#Hormone_levels_correlated_with_androgenic_alopecia

Here is the source they list,
http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?doi=10.1159/000078584

Notice, the source they list is incorrect, it does not back up that finding. The reference only shows that there is a correlation with family history for children and hair loss
Conclusion: Results suggest that the probability of male pattern hair loss is dependent on family history and age. Hair loss in a man’s father also appears to play an important role in increasing a man’s risk of hair loss, either in conjunction with a history of hair loss in the mother or hair loss in the maternal grandfather.

There seems to be plenty of links correlating Insulin Resistance to Alopecia, but does insulin alone (in a healthy non resistant manner) cause it?

Actually, some studies (already posted here) show that increasing dermal IGF-1 promotes hair growth:

1)Administration of capsaicin and isoflavone promotes hair growth by increasing insulin-like growth factor-I production in mice and in humans with alopecia - http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=19062253 . About this one, I guess it does not work as good as they say, since I could not find even one product on iherb containing isoflavones +capsaicin combined in those quantities. I would imagine, if it really worked, some companies would have already started to sell this combination?

I found a product that looks interesting: http://www.iherb.com/Natrol-NuHair-Hair-Regrowth-System-for-Men-30-Day-Kit/22389?at=0 . Someone is already using it?

CS wrote that EC increases IGF-1 in the scalp..by how much and how much influence has on hair, didn't find the info...

2)Induction of Hair Growth by Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 in 1,763 MHz Radiofrequency-Irradiated Hair Follicle Cells - http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0028474#s2 . About this one, I am curious if rife users already run scripts with that frequency.

That study on wikipedia may refer to serum IGF-1 then?
This is the source (http://www.eblue.org/article/S0190-9622(99)70188-X/abstract), the one you posted is something else.
