Losing My Hair and Mind! Empty Losing My Hair and Mind!

Post  cee-low Fri Nov 18, 2011 8:46 am

Well, over the past two years I have been trying to keep my hair, but it seems to be a losing battle. I have pretty much tried everything, but I am going to try oil pulling as a last resort since my hair loss correlated with bleeding gums. After that I am going to look at liver and adrenals, but if these routes don't work, I'll just shave my head and be done with things until a viable and safe option is available for hair loss.

Sometimes shaving is the most masculine, confidence boosting thing to do. I'm considering it myself.
I'm 23 and my hair is thinning on the crown diffusely. I still have hair though and so I've been hesitant
to shave, but I am strongly thinking of going that route.

The trouble with hairloss isn't so much not having hair as it is this identity crisis that leeches your confidence. Its that confidence loss thats the unattractive aspect. Because most of the time what that results in is the person hiding behind what hair they have left and hoping it goes unnoticed, but the problem is it gets noticed, and with it, your severe insecurity. People can't subconsciously trust someone who's insecure. People congregate around confident, self-aware, honest people and that seething insecurity just gives off a negative energy. I can feel it in myself when I have my insecure moments.

Not to mention, I don't think there has been a better time to go shaved. So many guys do it now, and if you keep up on the rest of your health and stay in shape, it actually looks pretty damned good sometimes. But making that leap is going to be tough, mostly because I'm worried about that initial shock factor. But part of me knows if I just grab my sack and go for it, I'd never look back. I know if I did, after that initial phase, I'd have a lot more confidence and security knowing I didn't have to worry about rain, water, sweat, sun, or some pretty woman's fingers revealing my lack of hair.

Curbing stress requires continuous effort.

I've observed that no matter how strictly I adhere to my diet/regimen, stress will cause hair loss and worsening of health. I went weeks and weeks with minimal hair loss (also accompanied by good breath, minimal plaque formation, minimal dandruff, no digestion issues). Three nights ago I experienced some unusually severe emotional stress, and days later my scalp is still inflamed and painful near the hairline. I'm seeing lots of dandruff, digestive issues, worsened breath, and of course hair on my pillow. I also came down with a cold.

I think I am making progress though on the stress front. I've been doing meditation. At first I was very skeptical of meditation because it sounds like BS. it seems like no significant benefit can come from something like breathing exercises. Try adopting a calmer approach to your daily activities. Maintain a sense of control, precision, and focus while doing anything.

Right around the same time I noticed my hair loss, my dentist pointed out that I had bleeding gums. There's probably an important connection.

If you have a head for shaving then go for it--shave it off or get yourself a buzz-cut with a 1 or 2 guard. I wish I had a head for that--but I dont. I've shaved it all off before and It looked f'd up. Seriously, I looked goofy as hell, because my head looked bigger, 'deformed', and my ears protuded outward more--I need hair--I look better with long hair and that is why I am trying hard to keep what I have and hopefully grow more.

OP, give it shot. It might open up a whole new world for you.

The trait of baldness is genetic so how is the hair of your father, grandfather, etc... Also, a dermatologist deals with all areas of the skin, so it could be true that one could help with hair loss problems, since it does come out of your skin, but I've never dealt with hair loss problems so I wouldn't know for sure.
Good Luck!

I second the "shave your head" notion. Did it earlier this year, feels good man. You don't have to keep it shaved, I've grown my hair out since then.
