CS, is Vitamin A Safe?
I'm currently taking 13000 IU per day, at what dosage does it become dangerous? I still have a little too much sebum, can I up the dosage or not? Thanks in advance

"While often thought of as potentially toxic, Vitamin A is very safe and only toxic when consumed in amounts of 100,000 IU (International units) or more per day over several months. A daily dose of 10,000 IU is sufficient to maintain health while larger doses may be taken to overcome a deficiency.
According to the Merck Manual, vitamin A toxicity is rare. One case of vitamin A toxicity in adults was reported in Arctic explorers who developed drowsiness, irritability, headaches and vomiting, followed by skin peeling. This was not long after consuming several million IUs of vitamin A derived from polar bear and/or seal liver. The explorers soon recovered and experienced no long-term side effects.
When larger doses of vitamin A are taken in the absence of Vitamin D there have been reports of lower bone density in some cases. Conversely, high doses of vitamin D in absence of Vitamin A can also create some problems, such as immune and bone problems. This is why it is important to consume levels of each vitamin for optimal health."

Dr. Mercola isn't too up to speed on vitamin A. That article came out in 2009.

I'm currently 15000 IU, so nothing to worry about with that dose? I would rather go down to 10000 IU but my softgels are 15000 IU

I'm not sure the when of an article is important. In 2 years a Healthy Fixx article from 2011 will not be irrelevant in my opinion.
Have you read something that comes out and suggests a dosage 10,000 IU of vitamin A? Or goes towards disproving the contention in the Mercola article that too much Vitamin A can negate the effectiveness of Vitamin D? Can you provide a link to that?
Here is an article from 2010 from Mercola on Vitamin A and Vitamin D: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/03/16/warning-new-proof-confirms-if-you-take-this-supplement-vitamin-d-will-not-work-as-well.aspx

A lot of important research on vitamin A has been very recent, especially detailing its association with vitamin D.
Fred, 15,000 IU is no problem.

"While that may seem like both animal and plant sources provide the retinol our bodies need, it's not exactly the case. It has long been assumed that provitamin A automatically converts to retinal on demand but we now know that up to 50% of the population has a defect in the enzyme responsible for converting provitamin A to retinal. If you're only consuming provitamin A, no retinal means no retinol."
Could you please provide a reference for this? TIA

It sounds like you're probably getting enough. It's okay to supplement though regardless, you'll find a link on the previous page.

Re: CS, is Vitamin A Safe?
thanks! you´re a wise man
i heard danny roddy is eating his eggs raw to save the vitamins etc.. are there any concerns regarding that? i read that some anti-nutrients in eggs are drawing out biotin. is that correct? i kinda feel better with raw eggs. the sulfur-smell of eggs is kinda annoying and raw eggs are pretty convenient.

Re: CS, is Vitamin A Safe?
Consumption of raw eggs does not prevent biotin absorption, that is a myth. Eating many raw eggs is one of the best things one can do for their health. In fact, I received a private message or two from members who have found this to be very beneficial for them.
