Chocolate good or bad?
70% dark chocolate, is helps regulate blood sugar, but it also has bromine and caffeine, and usually has sugar and milk.
I cannot find any suitable chocolate bar to purchase (due to sugar and milk or soy content).
What's the word on eating 70% or higher chocolate?

Re: Chocolate good or bad?
if youre eating just 70% cocoa content then there is bound to be some cane sugar or maple syrup or other types of sugar in it...I have not found a chocolate bar that claims to be 70% or 95% cocoa without the remaining percentages containing something with sugar.......do you not like 100% dark?

Chocolate at 70% cocoa lowers blood sugar, go ahead and indulge.

Very healthy. Full of antioxidants, and raises HDL significantly I believe. Don't worry about a small amount of added sugar.

Yuck ... I tried it more than once, it's bitter.
I have a 100% powder chocolate that I add to my protein shakes, with a banana or honey and that is perfect.
CS, abc123, what about the bromine in chocolate.

Eating some right now, have never had a problem in fact only positives I've noticed. When I had more money kicking around I used to make smoothies with almond milk, coconut oil, xylitol and cocao, soooo good.

Re: Chocolate good or bad?
If someone does have an adverse reaction to the sugar in good quality, dark chocolate, what health conditions might you ascribe to them CS?

Re: Chocolate good or bad?
Cocoa is good stuff rich in antioxidants called proanthocyanidins, giving it the bitter taste, same kind of antioxidants exist in grape seeds, pine bark, berry pigments, cinnamon and other spices, etc.
I dont eat most chocolate because of the sugar and the soy lechitns commonly added. It will screw your hair, IMHO.

Re: Chocolate good or bad?
i don't do well on chocolate either. it messes with my sleep really badly. all the caffeine and theobromine i guess... I'd like to know how the bromine content, what seems to be pro stress properties, and mycotoxins compare to the blood sugar lowering aspect? also, how does that work exactly? do the antioxidants just cancel out the blood sugar spike, hence insulin spike when ingested?

Yes! Let's hear it for chocolate! I've pretty much given up coffee and alcohol, I have to have a little indulgence!
I agree we don't have to worry about a bit of sugar, though I prefer to eat organic dark chocolate containing organic sugar. This is my all-time favorite, which has the added bonus of an omega oil blend!

Whenever I drink it more than occasionally, my hair shows it. Coffee raises cortisol levels and increases estrogen, leading to the 'estrogen dominance' syndrome which includes thinning hair in both men and women. It messes with blood sugar, makes iron less absorbable and may raise levels of DHT.
It's also dehydrating and this affects both skin and hair. Nuf said!

one other thing ive noticed w chocolate is that it kind of sets me off. I eat more like 85 to 90% when i do and i the cortisol like energy spike i get causes me to lose my self restraint. i'll start eating other things i wouldn't normally. it's like a drinking binge basically haha

Very good point - to defeat cortisol Masterfree, in addition to the supps, workout twice a day at peak cortisol times with weights - say 8.30am and 8pm. And hit it hard and you will convert the cortisol into something useful.
