Re: An Interesting View On Supplements
That car analogy is unbelievably awful, I feel dumber having seen it.

sdguy - I agree!
The author of this video is over simplifying everything.
If I want to rejuvenate my liver, I can take lipoic acid. But isn't lipoic acid found in potatoes? Yes, but very small amounts and no amount of potatoes will rejuvenate my liver because of the other starch found in the potato.
Do I want to eat bitter tasting brewer's yeast or take a supplement? I'll take the supplement.
Do I want to consume broccoli sprouts everyday? They are not bad tasting, but they are very difficult to find most places and I do not have time to grow them myself. I'll take the supplement.
Do I want to eat pounds of seaweed instead of a single capsule of ecklonia cava? No thanks!

Re: An Interesting View On Supplements
Good points CS, and while the speaker is correct about the benefits of whole foods, I don't think anyone here is saying "Stop eating healthy, whole foods and just take these supplements instead!" Oh well, I doubt mistere will understand.

Mistere - this is a dickhead comment. Immortal has been advocating the use of supplements for both health and hair loss for YEARS.

I have to agree with CS. Supplements combined with a solid diet and good general lifestyle can do wonders to one's hair. A lot of people just rely on supplements to do the magic and that's where they get disappointed. Just my two cents.

Re: An Interesting View On Supplements
misterE--
That is a low blow. It was my idea to do the supplement thing with IH; he's been helping people since '95 or so on hair loss forums. CS' points are all hit right on the head...trust me, I'd like to get all of my nutrition from whole foods but it's just not feasible in the majority of cases. Soil is over-farmed, resulting in mineral depletion, and all that organic means really is that no pesticides were used. So? Still the same over-farmed soil.
The idea behind doing the supplement line is that we could let people in the forums influence what was in the products, ensure that the best ingredients were used since we are consuming them ourselves and naturally want what's both best for ourselves and others, and keep them at rates cheaper or at least at the price of similar products out there while also using better-quality ingredients. You really ought to apologize.
