Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow? Empty Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow?

Post  lambyjay Sat Oct 09, 2010 1:54 pm

Hey, just a sort of follow up to the interesting scalp parasties theory - I have found that at times when I am excercising that the intense itching in my scalp seems to dissappear completely but when I stop it returns.

Of course there is a much greater blood flow to the scalp at this particular time..
I know there are a number of theories of why we go bald but lack of blood flow surely must be alongside the DHT theory. I mean have you ever looked at the muscles in the head and the thin scalp membrane? It surely cannot be simply a coincidence that thin galea is also the exact area where we lose hair.
Is this not also the theory behind why they think Minox works and a lot of herbal remedies - change in blood flow/pressure?

I found that my hair loss and itching started to get quite bad a number of months ago and I started doing the scalp excercises on Tom Hegartys website www.hairloss-reversible.com and I have to say the relief from inflammation was almost instantaneous. Yes the inflammation returned after the excercises but every time I felt the itch I would do the excercises and after a week or two inflammation was almost non-existant. The hair on the corwn thickened and all hair was darker. However I did notice I continued to lose hair in the temples and therefore I stopped. Recently the itching came back worse than ever to an unbearable level. I tried the supplements here for about a month with absolute zero success (I know not a lot but surely some differencce should be felt).

I decided to go back to te excercises and I must say the relief is great.
F**k it, I mean if I am going to go bald then I would rather get on with my life than that terrible feeling poking me all day telling me Im losing my hair.
I might even get on the saw palmetto/beta sit or nettle bandwagon for a while to try and help.....

Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow? Empty Re: Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow?

lambjay,

i've had almost the same experience with hagerty's exercises. I also felt itch subside during times when I was performing the exercise, and also saw an increase in temple recession during that time. I stopped doing them alltogher after that.

I still believe that there is some merit to them. Others have speculated that exercises and other things that increase bloodflow may only be beneficial if you have certain "antogonists" under control (i.e. dht, inflammatory factors, etc.). This seems plausible to me. While the bloodflow itself may be good, the things that it may carry with it may be bad, possibly even speeding hair loss up. I think that this is what happened in our cases. We still dont have some of these other factors under control.

As to why some claim the exercises seem to arrest their hairloss as a standalone, I dont yet have a good idea. During the time I was doing the exercises, I also had a lot of whey protein isolate in my diet, which I recently discovered can be bad for hair. So, its hard for me to say for sure the exercises are what sped things up, I just strongly believe they were.

I still believe they need another look though, as Hagerty has a good amount of positive testimonials on his site.

Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow? Empty Re: Scalp Inflammation- Blood Flow?

Hey phoenix,

No doubt MPB is a mulit-faceted problem as this website and its advocates agree on, similarly to acne.
I was able to get rid of my acne by using natural topicals and change in diet together.
As I had acne, no doubt I have some DHT problem and must prob do the same in terms of my scalp with change in diet etc.
I also agree that increasing the blood flow may have brought more DHT to my scalp which is why I am going to embark on scalp excercise/dht reducing regime.
I was using that natural minoxidil for a while(the one with like lavender+grapeseed oils etc) and that helped but its messy but all in all I might go back to it.
However the relief I feel at the moment is great and the hairs have stopped coming out by the dozen so it does have merits.

Just a mention on genes, I was at an obesity meeting the other day (which Im not thanks to diet and excercise) and a proffessor proclaimed that humans with the obesity gene (FTO gene) who become overweight activate this gene. To stay at a normal weight for the rest of their lives they have to excercise on average 30 mins a day and eat quite healthy. I can agree with this, as when I was a teenager I had no worries and ate crap and got a little pudgy. Even when I slimmed down I still have to excercise regularly or I will put on weight easily.
Is it the same with the AGA gene?
How many people here ate/drank too much when they were younger? Probably most of us.
Once we have activated this it probably requires constant attention I suppose. Oh well...

Balding + acne = my blessings in disguise
