Question about Lupus Empty Question about Lupus

Post  hadrion Thu Dec 17, 2009 3:02 am

IH,

My aunt was recently diagnosed with Lupus. Of course they gave her every oral steroid known to man. She's interested in taking a natural approach. Any thoughts?

hadrion - Many with lupus are actually allergic to wheat/gluten. If this is the case, have her leave off wheat/gluten for a month to see if symptoms subside. Or she may want to do some tests such as:

Celiac panel & Candida panel, an Intestinal permeability (leaky gut) test, a CDSA or comprehensive digestive stool analysis, and a 24-hour urine for heavy metals with DMPS.

Lupus patients are typically extremely low in DHEA, and often need a substantial amount such as 50 to 200 milligrams taken in the morning.

Would have her try glycoproteins (essential sugars), not everyone can make all of the 8 essential sugars necessary.
Here's an example of that: http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Glyconutrient-Complex-90-Capsules/7242?at=0

These essential sugars act as intercellular communication, so ward off an autoimmune dysfunction.

Other supplements are target for inflammation, such as high dose fish oil, curcumin, bromelain, and Ecklonia cava.

Check her vitamin D levels, because most autoimmune diseases are improved with vitamin D brought up to optimal ranges.

Treatment wise, have her check into Low Dose Naltrexone. More information here: www.lowdosenaltrexone.org It modulates the immune system and may place it into a dormant state if the above measures do not correct it.
