Geraniol
I was at PubMed the other day and I came across geraniol, a compound in many essential oils. I've not seen anything linking it directly with hair growth, but from a natural substance health-promotion standpoint, is this something that's really something in terms of its wide ranging functionality?
For example:
anti-cancer (broad range)
anti-obsogenic
antioxidant (Nrf2)
antinociceptive
anti-anxiety
It seems like it can help just about everything in one way or another, including:
ulcers
IBS
biofilms
brain
heart
liver
arthritis/inflammation

Re: Geraniol
Geraniol is a precursor of Geranylgeraniol (GG), which has been studied for its potential health benefits, such as in restoring the levels of coenzyme Q10, vitamin K2, testosterone and skeletal muscle proteins, etc.
Rich sources of "GG" include flaxseed oil, sunflower, and olive oils, as well as some medicinal herbs.
Something I have taken for a quite a long time is standardized, patented extract of Tocotrienols (Toco-Sorb) that probably has a decent amount of GG in it. It's extracted from annatto, a plant that is rich in GG.

All that stated, from memory having examined all of the research from some of these sources, they all have testosterone boosting effects, and the Geranylgeraniol is perhaps the reason, which includes MK-4 (menaquinone-4), Olive Oil, and from personal observation, Grass-fed Butter, which does contain some MK-4 in it.

Re: Geraniol
Thanks, CS.
I should probably have been taking a CoQ10 supplement for like forever now. I look forward to your new website going live so I can draw inspiration from (translation: largely copy) your regimen again.

Re: Geraniol
Hey CS, I was being lazy and by doing so I didn't read your post correctly and thought you had suggested that CoQ10 is a useful supplement to take. Well I ordered some between then and now.
It's probably a silly notion but I just wouldn't want to take something that might be bad for me. Like maybe the body could wind up producing a lot less CoQ10 on its own or something as a result of supplementation? Would you say 100 mg once or twice a day for a 48 year old male would be worthwhile addition to a health and longevity focused regimen?

A long time ago - Before 2009 I had an article up on Co-enzyme Q10 on benefits for hair. It won't hurt taking any.
Ubiquinol and ubiquinone are two forms of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a vitamin-like substance that is involved in energy production and is in all sorts of tissues and organs, including the hair follicles.
The inference here is that it might enhance circulation and based on age, Ubiquinol is the reduced or active form of CoQ10 would be the best choice, while ubiquinone is the oxidized or inactive form. The body can convert ubiquinone to ubiquinol and vice versa, depending on the needs and the redox status.
It's thought that standard CoQ10 will be utilized poorly if they have a metabolic disease state.
