Acetyl L Carnitine
I remember using it over a decade ago but stopped after reading some stuff about it potentially causing heart problems because it increases TMAO levels. Recently i bought a kilo of it to help my mom with her hyperthyroidism and i started taking one gram a day. After taking it i feel a pressure on my heart for a few minutes.
Also i read that it is not good to combine with choline and since i'm a carnivore i get loads of choline. I do take alpha lipoic acid with the alcar btw.
Anybody still uses this stuff? What are the benefits and side effects? And is it better than regular L Carnitine?

Never used L-carnitine but I used to take L-arginine. First they say it can be good for your heart but then they warn you that if you ever had a heart attack in the past not to take it. Slightly baffling. So I decided to not take it at all...just in case.

The TMAO construct is one of the most egregious forms of junk science. I wrote on an article on this several years ago. However, here's a more recent one from Bart Kay.
Until Carnivore I took the stuff for at least 15 years plus...Clinically other forms of carnitine are used in large quantities for heart patients. Of course, if you feel something is wrong, can always discontinue it.
