Dermaroller Side effects? Does it damage the skin? Safe for face?
I'm asking this for a friend of mine.
As hair loss sufferers we are aware of the beneficial effects of dermaroller use for hair loss and scalp health and to help absorb topicals.
But my friend wants to use if for the face and I wasn't able to give a good answer as I am not sure.
Even though dermarollers can be used in all parts of the body, such as stomach, stomach, legs and face and is being used in skin clinics, I have heard that using the dermaroller can actually cause the skin the the get worse. Some say it breaks down collagen, to even talking about the angle of entry and exit of the needle on the roller also damaging the skin and pores over time. For instance dermastamp/dermapen are mentioned as better alternatives but even these would still potentially cause collagen breakdown and skin damage over time.
I tend to be quite dismissive of the negative reports I mentioned above and also since I use the dermaroller on the scalp, don't know much about how it would affect the face.
So I don't want to give my friend bad advice telling her it is safe to use and she ends up using it on her face and body and damages her skin.
Anyone heard anything negative about dermaroller use?

Why would you want to derma roll your face? To grow a decent beard? I don't think it's worth it. If you damage the skin and look all pot-marked you'd probably regret it.

. I also would like as many thoughts on dermarolling as possible. I've done it a very few times on my face and on my head with various sized needles... It never left any indication I had punctured my skin... after a day or two. But my head and my face healed and supposedly built collagen and other benefits for hair growth and skin health but perhaps there are new studies I didn't hear about.

I've read about rubbing lard on your skin (hands, face) to keep it soft and moisturized. Can't hurt I guess.

I wonder if emu oil would have the same moisturizing and softening effect as lard... It seems to. do that so perhaps it would be beneficial for dermarolling
