I think I have a couple infected toes. I bought some OTC liquid...undecylenic acid...that you put on twice a day. Once in the morning and at night. It's supposed to take around 4 weeks to work but it's so easy to forget to do. It sounds like it prevents fungus from growing and as the nail grows you can cut off the infected part leaving a clean nail behind. But what if the fungus is underneath the nail in the nail bed? Is there anything that penetrates the nail and kill the fungus? Or do I have to tear away the nail and expose the nail bed first.

Would suggest two things.

Borax is sodium borate, sodium tetraborate and/or Decolorized ("white") iodine painted on everyday.

Get some 20 Mule Team Borax.
Put ½ cup of borax powder into a large bowl.
Add 2 gallons of warm water.
Dissolve the borax in the water.
Soak your feet in the bowl for 10-20 minutes.

The iodine method is much easier, also regular iodine works, but it will stain clothes, so use dark socks and just paint on the affected area everyday, until it's gone.
