Metformin Alternative

Hi,

For anyone following the latest findings in aging reversal, Dr. David Sinclair talks a lot about NMN and metformin.

Could it be that metformin is quite possibly the only pharmaceutical drug that has actual positive health benefits we can trust.

Also, since this is a prescription medicine, is there an alternative to metformin that we can take which provides equal benefits? I have seen supplements known as AMPK activators, however I doubt this is the only mechanism in which metformin is working and benefits aging reversal effects. Would we require another supplement that suppresses mTor activity as well? Or a simple AMPK activator would suffice to equate metformin.

There are plenty of AMPK activators.

I consider Metformin to be a poison and will never take it. (depletes B12 for one thing).

Lipoic acid probably is a substitute for the poison (I am speculating here).

Berberine is slightly superior to Metformin (without side-effects)

Olive Leaf Extract is roughly equivalent to Metformin without side-effects.

Will agree to disagree with Caustic on this one. I take Metformin 1500 mg a day, divided doses, nothing but benefits, reduced already low bodyfat, muscle hardening. Ashwagandha is a known Metformin mimetic, and Ginkgo is an AMPK activator. I take both for different reasons. And yeah, I supplement w/B-12, sublingual, levels tested out on the high side, even w/Metformin
