Alcohol & Inflammation & Topicals Empty Alcohol & Inflammation & Topicals

It seems pretty well accepted that drinking alcohol is inflammatory to the body. Wouldn't topical application be inflammatory as well? Over the years I've gone from Minoxidil, to Xandrox (Dr. Lee's minoxidil with Azelaic acid) and currently SuperZix II, but have still lost ground in the areas of application (center of hairline & crown). Interestingly, I've generally held ground in the typical mpb area of either temple where I don't apply any topicals. This may, however, be a chicken/egg situation where perhaps I'm applying to these areas because they're thinning, and the topicals are actually slowing down the loss there. I'm just not sure. I know some of the posters here eschew topicals in favor of supplements, etc. (I'm also using many different regimen ideas: supplements, LLLT, diet, exercise, etc.) and would love to hear everyone's opinion on this subject. I'm considering dropping alcohol containing products from my regimen, but am still a bit perplexed.

RPM--

Back when we were trying to bring HairGen to life, the main thing that stalled it from ever happening was a study that I came across that showed that topical alcohol application induces cell apoptosis (death). After reading that, there was no way that I was going to include alcohol in the formulation. Alternatively, liposomes were the other option, but that wound up making the formula far too expensive to bring to life!

That's my two cents. Very Happy

Whoa! affraid Thanks for the reply Nid. That sort of negative impact was what I was concerned about. You wouldn't know how to track down that study would you? I would love to read the details. I understand you consider the small amount of alcohol in Rejuveplex to be below a damaging threshold, and hope to buy some soon as finances allow. I wonder if there are any alternatives to the alcohol in Zix, as it seems to have a lot of promising ingredients as well. Thanks.
