Typical Metal Chelation Reaction? Empty Typical Metal Chelation Reaction?

Post  turbojet Thu Apr 21, 2011 8:16 am

I decided to give metal chelation a try so beginning Friday night I started with the recommended protocol
-complete metal cleanse (75mg humifulvate)
-2 drops of J Crows 5% Lugol's Solution (12.5mg)
-Selenium
-Pureway Vit C
-Magnesium

By Saturday night I had an extreme headache (temples), upset stomach and fatigue. I expected some standard detox/herxheimer type reaction symptoms from pulling bromide out but nothing this bad. I started salt loading on Sunday (probably should have done this in advance of the cleanse). The symptoms persisted into Monday to the point where I had to call out of work and make the decision to stop chelation for the time being. I still have a slight headache today after stopping all treatments almost 3 days ago. I've been on evolving versions of IH's top 6 since 2005 and figured my system could handle this without much issue. Is what I'm describing pretty standard or could I be running into an allergic reaction? I'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions.

I'm no expert, but fatigue, headaches and nausea seems pretty standard.

Keep salt loading, you could try iodine 2 days on 2 days off for a while as you adjust to it.

turbojet, I'm almost two weeks into the exact same regimen as you and very few side effects. Surprised you had it so bad but maybe my pre-loading of iodine helped. Here's what I've experienced:

easing into the iodine (1 on 1 off) seems like a plan.

Is salt loading something I would want to do for several consecutive days prior to supplementing with iodine to increase bromide flushing?

turbojet - CS has said before you can do up to 4 weeks of salt loading before resuming iodine if you need.

Iodine can give an initial reaction which usually prevents people from sticking with it. Try to push through, but like others said you can scale it down a little as your body gets adjusted.

I would think the humifulvate would help. What kind of schedule are you taking these on? I.e. when are you taking the humifulvate vs. when are you taking the iodine.
