dermaroller Empty dermaroller

Post  shred-boy Fri Jul 18, 2008 9:38 am

two days into "wounding" via the use of a dermaroller. actually bought the .5mm and 1.0mm to determine their effectiveness. plan on rotating on alternate days and applying magnesium oil. apparently it takes about 5 weeks for results to become evident. i'll let you know. as for the pain issue. yes, especially with the 1.0mm there is some pain BUT it is very tolerable and subsides in a few hours. if anyone has a successful protocol please pass it along.

Sounds very interesting. Could you document this journey with photos? clown

If you want to speed up the process, get a rasper from Wallmart $0.82 sunny

dermaroller Empty word up

Post  shred-boy Mon Jul 21, 2008 2:15 pm

now i know why they can it wounding. started out thinking/believing that i'd daily alternate the .5mm and 1.0mm dermarollers. WELL, seems the scalp prefers some rest so i took Saturday off. back on today with the 1.0mm and it hurts. in any event, i use minoxidal to sterilize the blades and then once the application/rolling is complete i use topical magnesium oil. also using a laser brush most days.

dermaroller Empty Works for me

Post  Braden50 Wed May 29, 2013 1:39 pm

I noticed your article and researched rolling and found a number of women use it for facial skin care (which I have also found effective). I use .25mm on my face and 1.0mm and 1.5mm on my hair. I use the 1.5mm on areas where I still have hair but it is thinning and I need the length to get past the hair. The 1.0mm is used for the nearly bald spots. I roll every other day and I have noticed new hair growth in about 6 weeks. Now if I could find a way to buy a 'Basic Hair Care Package' and actually have it delivered, I would be on my way to a full head of hair again.

Braden, what else are you on? Could you explain your regimen? What kind of regrowth are you experiencing?

The dermaroller works, much better than scalp massage (and I have tried both extensively,) but is far more painful. Wink You just don't want to be wounding yourself with it too deep or often. I recommend 1-2x daily at no more than 1.0mm.

Thanks 4039 for your input. What is your current regimen, besides derma rolling 1-2x a day? E.g. do you use any topicals with the dermarolling?

4039, could you explain your results and what your regimen is? I have a 1.0 mm roller and am looking for feedback from current rollers who are getting results. Want to mimic what is effective.

Thanks!

I have a 1.0mm dermaroller that I experimented with a few years ago but never got into a solid routine. Definitely a good way to break up fibrosis and promote wound healing but you need to be cautious. Sarah Vaughter has been in the business for a long time and from my research has been the best source of info on the subject.
http://dermaroller.owndoc.com/dermaroller-instructions.pdf

If you're using 1.0mm needles 1-2X day there's a good chance you're doing more harm than good. In the pdf above she recommends every 10-14 days with 1.0mm needles. This may be a bit conservative but I wouldn't use it more than once a week personally, the skin needs time to heal.

Good luck

Sorry guys for the mistake. Obviously if I'm giving a caveat about "wounding too often" with the OP's "alternating days," it should have read 1-2x WEEKLY. I tried to edit the post a few minutes later, but couldn't.

I agree with the above poster about 1x a week being preferable. The wounds typically close in 1-2hours and heal within days using topical MSM (I use Optimsm and a .75mm roller.)

How hard do you press? Im using a 1.0 mm roller and I apply a little pressure.

Also wondering, where do you get your topical MSM? Thanks!

You want to dermaroll vigorously to initiate a wounding response and corresponding growth factors. I buy my Optimsm in bulk and make a 15% topical (with other things added.)

Would u mind sharing what else is in your topical? thanks so much!

*edit: was also wondering if you think it's too much to do the ferox method (semi vigorous brushing) the day after rolling? Could the wounds still heal
With brushing going on?

I've recently started with a 0.5mm dermaroller and am using it daily (24 hrs between use). I may miss the odd day in the week but would this usage be too much? It's never caused any bleeding and it's not really painful, more a discomfort.

Question for those Dermarolling: After Dermarolling, does it leave visible marks on the skin? And if so, how long are the marks visible?

Doesn't leave any marks for me. If anything, my skin looks reddish/pink for maybe 30 minutes. Usually the reddish/pink color goes away sooner.
