What to expect from beta-sitosterol?

Its not a cutting edge treatment, of course, but that doesnt mean it isnt effective - propecia is also very "old fashioned", but effective. Most people here might say that blocking dht is not the best way to maintain hair, but when I read the reports of most of you with expensive and complex regimens I dont get really convinced that they work that well - i.e. that they work amazingly as promised.
