I bought some potassium chloride powder a while back to replace table salt for a specific reason. As far as taste goes it doesn't work well for seasoning IME, but I still have it lying around. Would there be any benefit from taking it? I have adrenal fatigue so I consume a ton of sea salt, but electrolytes are not my strong suit.

Paradox - Did you hear about Wright Salt?

I did an update on an older Daily Topic about salt.

Paradox,

Why not use Hymalayan salt for seasoning instead?

Probably you can use it as a source of Potassium and Chloride ions, to rise stomach acid levels, compete with bromide, etc.

Good article CS. How does the Wright salt taste?

LF,

I love sea salt and use a ton of it, so I was basically asking if I should consume the potassium chloride as a supplement as well? It was suggested to replace table salt with potassium chloride for a protocol to taper off of a Rx medication I was taking. I have no idea why really and that is why I bought it. Do you guys think it would be beneficial to use up, or should I just keep it in the box with the other supplements I'm not using? Maye a better question would be: when and for what reason would one supplement potassium chloride?

Paradox - The taste is great. Just to reemphasize something here, based on new data I have received via blood chemistry, Himalayan, Sea Salt and perhaps Celtic salt are much, much, much less favorable than previously thought.

Two reasons: They are no longer electrified (non-biological) & may contain (especially with Himalayan, toxic metals such as Mercury). Maybe not a whole lot, but why take chances when, there's a salt called Wright Salt, which is the same as the salt they use in Finland--which has demonstrated a 70% reduction in heart attack and strokes since its introduction.

To me, that's pretty solid proof that Wright Salt, is the right stuff. It's biological (electrified), contains ligands and contains iodine, sodium, lysine, magnesium, and potassium.

CS - I'm glad you mentioned that about Himalayan/Sea Salt. I have been wondering for a long time if it made sense to include that kind of salt into our diets to introduce trace minerals and other benefits. All I could find is information praising the use of these salts and very, very, few opinions against it. Many proponents of those salts will often talk about balance and that way they minimize the fact they contain elements considered toxic. Also, apparently many people are practicing the habit of drinking a sole solution on a daily basis, supposedly to boost health.

From what you say, I'm interpreting the term "biological (electrified)" as the inclusion of minerals in compound forms (like chlorides) as well as chelated with amino acids, as opposed to ionic minerals as found in himalayan/sea salt. Is this correct?

Thanks.

An article questioning the safety of Himalayan salt:

LittleFighter - These undesirable metals are exactly one of the reasons for the concern. The other is that there are no ligands. What happens is that the non-electrified minerals can occupy a "seat" not allowing a mineral with an electrical charge to take its place. In blood chemistry tests, these unrefined salts created undesirable changes, not allowing improvements in health.
