Best food for hair as a vegan?
I'm losing my mind and my hair once again. What are the best things in a vegan diet that is very healthy for hair. It can be anything from oils to produce. What fruits and veggies should I avoid and what should I ravage?

Go fuck yourself.
You could at least tell me foods. I'm sure people can grow hair as a vegan.

Mate, I'm new here but I'm almost certain you won't get far with that attitude...
As far as I understand, a big variety of vegetables, fruits while avoiding fried crap and wheat are more or less all you can do as a vegan.

I think the lack of meat is affecting your temper in a negative way.

Bovine Colostrum - It is a "spiritually correct" vegan food, at least according to the Rishis.
It's the most pro-hair food a vegan/vegetarian can eat.
Pills or capsules, either are a great add-in.
Bovine Colostrum
or
Surthrival BC

prominent vegan author David Wolfe does eat dairy, including butter, ghee and cheese
and he was vegan for 20 years
for me, that closes the argument

I only use whole foods, and no supplements but you wont get any good answers here since we are in a supplemental, drug industry now.
I went back to basics by using growing plants instead, and it still amazes me why we use supplements that docent belong in our system?

Re: Best food for hair as a vegan?
May have to broaden your research past immortalhair. What I've found is that this forum is pretty well versed on diets similar to the paleo. We're discovering that a lot of things missing from our diets now that we're industrialized is causing extra inflammation. We now eat only muscle meat, but supplementing with things like collagen or eating bone broth has been said to be very beneficial.
As a vegan you're likely only going to be finding foods neutral to hair. A lot of societies that are vegan(usually religious purposes) tend to have some of the highest rates of hair loss. The two don't 'appear' to mix, but that doesn't mean you can't just stock up on foods that are not harmful to hair. Back when my diet was super strict, two carb sources that were safe and neutral to hair were white rice and sweet potatoes. I would start there and use them as fillers until you complete more research and are able to substitute some of that out, for vegan foods that you've found to be helpful.

Re: Best food for hair as a vegan?
Broccoli. The following quote suggests there's at least superficial evidence that broccoli supports hair-growth.
"Vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, and cauliflower produce a chemical when being digested that inhibits the action of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Leonard Bjeldanes, professor of nutritional science at UC Berkeley, and Gary Firestone, professor of molecular biology at the same institution, have been researching the anti-cancer properties of plant chemicals (phytochemicals). They found that vegetables such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts are rich in an indole called I3C. An indole is a decomposition product of proteins. The body converts this indole into diindolylmethane or simply DIM during digestion.
Further research confirmed that this DIM inhibits the action of DHT. It does this by binding to the same receptors within the cell that DHT uses. DHT, as I'm sure most visitors to this site are aware of, is involved in male pattern baldness. The research that Bjeldanes and Firestone are doing is mostly centered on prostate cancer and the proliferation of cancer cells, but Dr. Bjeldanes in an email to me wrote that he is now requesting funding to do research on male pattern baldness."
This aside, I abide to Joel Fuhrman's Nutritarian Diet & G-BOMBS. That is a vegan dietary approach based on maximizing the micronutrients per calorie to ensure there are no overt deficiencies that may or may not contribute to hair-loss.

potatoes are good for protein. you really want to track and make sure you are getting enough calcium, protein, and vitamins and minerals. calcium being huge.. you have to eat a fuck load of dark leafy greens just to get enough. i guarntee you will not get enough calcium until you really track it and over eat the greens because it is way more than you would think. probably keep dairy in there if you can for that reason.

Re: Best food for hair as a vegan?
Actually, there's a lot of options for you!
Raw onions are fantastic for hair. They're one of the foods recommended in Dale Alexander's book on hair growth.
You could chop them up into guacamole, salads etc.
His book is worth perusing, I want to get a copy, I lost the one I had:
http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Hair-Common-Sense-Alexander/dp/0911638024
CS is right about colostrum. Wheat germ and brewer's yeast--primo hair foods. Oatmeal. Carrots and carrot juice. SEAWEED. Sunflower seeds, raw, unsalted. Walnuts, ditto. Sesame seeds. Fermented soy.
(I am very fond of a spread I make with tahini, miso, lemon or lime, garlic. I just started adding chia seeds for more protein and omega3.) Hemp hearts.
Green superfoods: alfalfa, chlorella, spirulina. MSM. Blackstrap molasses. Soy lecithin.
Oh, your hair is going to be so thick and beautiful

Then please explain why Dirk Benedict has a full head of hair on the macrobiotic diet.

Re: Best food for hair as a vegan?
Vegans can have a diet low in saturated fat and one virtually non-existent in cholesterol. So make sure to get some good fats and supplement with pregnenolone. Otherwise they are notorious for having low free T vs. carnivores and the diet becomes a net negative over time. Good luck.

he's honestly probably taking finasteride. if you look at his pic, he has clear temple loss.
and many times celebs i think are doing a lot more things than you would think. john stamos is a clear example.. did you know he was on GHB? the date rape drug GHB. i have no idea why he was taking it, but i'm going to assume some medical reason. i think a lot of celebs track every nutrient and probably have doctors that let them track everything.
i think if you did some kind of vegan diet, you probably could do very well with it IF and that's a big IF, you are tracking everything and getting all the essential nutrients you need and keep your metabolism up. i think all of us have a problem in which something we were doing was wrong. i'm not sure if it could reverse or not, but i think the most important thing to do is track, track, track, track.
cronometer should be everyones best friend.
you can't doubt, he looks good at 70. many vegans look amazing as they get older. it definetly crossed my mind and it is not made up that the diet works wonders. beyonce and jay z both look really good and follow a vegan diet.
i tried a vegan diet and i remeber girls started checking me out all of a sudden and one of my friends was all like, omg you look handsome. i have no idea what it was that did it. but i know i couldn't sleep at all. i also wasn't tracking though so i know i was missing some key things. going vegan and eating 2k calories a day.. wow. i think it would be hard.
we are also comparing them against the average person and what the average person eats.

If I absolutely had to add things to my diet that weren't vegan, what would be good ones?
