Side effect of oil pulling with coconut oil

My lips which were once always dry and cracked are now smooth and red

Also ulcers in my mouth I get if I bite it when eating heal almost over night!!

Awesome stuff!!


I now eat a lump of coconut oil every day aswell as mouthwashing

is this refined or extra virgin coconut oil and would they work the same?

any changes in your hair?

Its cold pressed organic coconut oil, I get it from Tesco.

As for hair, it does seem to be a bit smoother/silkier recently and my crown thinning seems to have slightly thickened (but that could just be my imagination lol).

However after saying all that I couldnt put it down to oil pulling, ive changed my diet and also cut down on smoking.

But if your thinking of starting then do it, at the very worst you get improved mouth health. It DOES make your teeth whiter and increases saliva in your mouth which gives you a fresher feeling all day.

Yea lol, looks best just after use obviously, as it drys/gets washed away etc the effect wears off obviously. But my lips have never been as bad as they used to be since I started.

hmmm. you sure its the oil? has the weather changed in your neck of the woods. not saying thats the cause but sometimes when the air temperature gets colder our lips will suffer, mine do anyway.

No my lips have been bad for years, nothing to do with the weather.

Coconut oil is great for dry lips. Burt's Bees lip balm has coconut oil as the main ingredient.

I am doing oil pulling with sesame oil and it seems to have worsened my receding the last 2 weeks maybe. But coconut oil maybe is better and helps hair?

TBH I cant see any of it having much affect on hair at all, did you get the oil pull fever in the 1st week?

I did I felt like I had bad cold, head fog and stuffy nose etc. Maybe your shedding is related to that?

I have actually applied coconut oil to a very small part of my hairline everyday, just to experiment and see what happens. I have noticed there are alot of tiny vellus hairs on there. BUT I cant say wether they were there before or not, it could be that im just noticing them now and they have always been there.

After a month on sesame oil, i switch to extra virgin coconut oil.
The 3d day, when i tried to brush my teeth, i could not even touch them. Especially in the left side of my mouth. I feel like touching naked nerve. My teeth was never so sensitive...I dont know if it was just a coincidence, but i hope they will return as it was before....

How long do you do it for steve? And how much do you use?

Ive been doing it now for 3 weeks, teeth have DEFINATELY whitened and if anything feel stronger, my white tongue has sliightly reduced aswell, lips and gums are a nice healthy red.

P.S are you using 'cold pressed' coconut oil?

Over a month at sesame oil and only 3 days at coconut oil. I keep it in my mouth for 15-20 min.

I do feel also better mouth condition, and my teeth whitened mostly after coconut oil.
I don't know why this sensitivity show up...maybe has something to do with enamel...
Unfortunatelly no oil pulling for me anymore...
