Best Brewer's Yeast Product -- the one suggested is no longer good
The one previously suggested that was by NOW foods is now discontinued and the rest either contain too few B vitamins or don't contain critical ones like Vitamin B4 and Tin(yes, Tin).
which brewer's yeast should I be using? Also, how important is B12 since brewer's yeast usually doesn't contain it?

how is this going to correct your PgD2 / PgE2 imbalance?
it's a good supplement but itself it wont do anything against hairloss.

Would not discount unfortified brewer's yeast. This can sometimes, be missing link or part of
a successful program.
Hair loss is not limited to PGD2, unfortunately.

out of the supplements I tried brewers yeast is probably the only one that seemed to slow hairloss down and maybe thickened my hair, but didn't really stop it or a combination of thickening/slowing. This is the brand I use I buy it locally though to avoid shipping costs not fortified http://www.vitacost.com/modern-products-natural-brewers-yeast-14-oz-1

Re: Best Brewer's Yeast Product -- the one suggested is no longer good
how could it thicken your hair and only slow down your hair loss at once? You can't improve and worsen at the same time
Re: Best Brewer's Yeast Product -- the one suggested is no longer good
It didn't worsen anything it might have had a double positive effect. I said maybe idk if it slowed down or just me imagining it slowing down when it just actually thickened a little, or vice versa. It won't cure hair loss, bit does have an effect on hair and is good for acne too.

I found these two studies:
Decreased Androgen Receptor Gene Methylation in Premature Pubarche: A Novel Pathogenetic Mechanism?
http://jcem.endojournals.org/content/91/3/968.full
Evidence of increased DNA methylation of the androgen receptor gene in occipital hair follicles from men with androgenetic alopecia

brewer's yeast should help

B4 is not listed on any type of brewer's yeast, because legally, it's not permitted. Also, it is unlikely that tin will be listed on the label regardless if it contains it or not.
Brewer's yeast (some) contains B12, however BY is not going to be the best source of it, so it's a non-issue.

I read you should avoid brewers yeast if you have candida. I may have that so I'm thinking better safe then sorry. What alternative do you guys recommend for b vitamins? Bee pollen? anything else?
Edit, I just read from an older thread that CS mentions brewer's yeast is anti-candida. Is this true? I read on another site that it's bad for candida but I haven't researched it extensively.

Would doubt avoiding something beneficial like Brewers yeast would be the solution to candida issues.
B vitamins and methylation research is an area I have lately realized I have lacked in my regimen, and may kick up some more regrowth?! I just got my first order of this, any experiences/opinions on this brand and its contents. Weak or strong?
Either way Ill mostly cycle through different supplements and brands since theres no telling on a particular products efficacy.
http://www.iherb.com/Modern-Products-Imported-Brewer-s-Yeast-14-oz-397-g/12890
Think it should do fine in almond milk or my oatmeal, I'll probably take larger doses than serving size suggests.
I'll probably pick up some Bee pollen too and organic dessicated liver soon for increased efforts, any recommendations there appreciated.

I ordered jarrow's yeast. Today took it for the first time but I mixed it in my smoothie. Next time I may just mix it with water and that's it. I may try to incorporate bee pollen as well. It should help my family too since it's a food. Parents don't like taking pills. They're conditioned to think all pills are the same whereas introducing food is much easier to do. Plus it raises compliance much more when dealing with food. I just want to get the best bioavailable B-vitamins. Bee pollen also has enzymes which is good since I'm not on a raw food diet.

J987, that's too weak. This is what I'm taking in regards to possible methylation problems:
http://www.iherb.com/Metabolic-Maintenance-5-MTHF-L-Methylfolate-10-mg-90-Capsules/38360
http://www.iherb.com/MegaFood-DailyFoods-Balanced-B-Complex-90-Tablets/3992
http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Methyl-B-12-1000-mcg-100-Lozenges/129
Folate and B12 are supposed to increase telomere length(read: slow aging) so that's worth taking in itself.

Have you noticed or felt anything taking these, probably not but just wondering because I always here b vitamins noticeably increase energy levels.?

Too early to tell. I'm under stress now from other things plus I started playing with my thyroid tabs again so I'm back to being moody all the time
All in all, according to studies B12/Folate are low in PCOS patients and they're also low in depressed patients. Go to soulcysters.net. "depression" gives you 43,000+ results. There was some survey for symptoms in PCOS patients and depression was number one. I guarantee you they all have low B12/Folate levels but they don't know it yet.
That $80 Folate product is a one-time buy since once your folate levels are established, you could then maintain with 400mcg from that B-Complex product.

Ill gone and pick up the b12, not enough play money for 80$ worth of folate right now, are these benefits you suggest only when the folate and b12 are used together, meaning its not as beneficial to get on the b12 until I can buy the folate too? Or perhaps theres a folate source or product thats a little bit cheaper, even though I'm sure the cost is appropriate if its really good stuff.

Re: Best Brewer's Yeast Product -- the one suggested is no longer good
I have to say that there are some things stated on this thread that are absolutely incorrect.
For example, most people who are susceptible to a folate error do not need the high dose. I recommend to start small and build up if more is needed.

Ok, could be coincidental. But I've observed more than one grey hair in my head which on close observation has reverted back to dark coloring -- ie: the hair shaft portion coming out of the scalp had redarkened completely. Judging by the inch and half / 2 inch or so of pigmented hair shaft on these gray hairs indicates that it about coincided with my starting of brewers years a few months ago. I also started 1/4 teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon ascorbic acid around the same time.

Twinlab brewers yeast. Un"fortified". End of answer. Not sure why these things need to be rehashed endlessly.

Oddly enough I believe it could worsen and improve simultaneously. Hair could be poor quality due to deficiency. This is independent of an MPB pathology. You could thicken due to correction of nutrition, but MPB pathology could still progress. I posted a review of gelatin for hair loss. It thickens hair, but it wasn't evaluated for a long enough period of time to see if it could counterbalance a long term minuaturization of the hair. I think similar could be said of other agents. Nizoral definitely thickens hair. But does nizoral alone halt miniaturization? Not in most.
