Re: best shower filter on the market
Tudor,
It's a hectic time of year I'm sure most people are just busy. I researched shower heads extensively about two years ago and eventually opted for this one:

I never did water tests after but it does have great pressure and does not dry out skin or hair nearly as much.

I use this one now. I like it I suppose. Can't really say anything bad or good about it besides it has pretty good pressure.
This is definitely something I want to look further into though. I'd be willing to spend the extra money on a quality filter if it showed vast improvement of water quality, good pressure and low maintenance required.
Does the Kenrico require filter replacemets? How often if so?

Surely we would opt for fluoride filtration as well while we're at it, no?

Yanks,
The kenrico head is an enclosed unit that supposedly never needs replacement. They instruct you to run very hot water through every few months to flush out build up.
When I first got mine it produced an odd breeze type effect (negative ions??) but that has dissipated some over the past year.

Re: best shower filter on the market
So I still haven't made a buy on a new filter. I'm don't understand completely the benefit/detriment of negative ions, but it mentions that this will increase seratonin, which according to Ray Peat and his followers is an absolute negative (pun half-heartedly intended). So I'm not sold on this one yet. I love the fact that you don't have to replace the filter on this though. Any others like that I may jump on in a second.

I did a google search and everything I saw said negative ions are associated with a reduction in serotonin levels.

Fluoride filtration is very slow so you won't get a shower head that does that. You'd have to put a filter elsewhere in your plumbing to filter your shower/bath water from fluoride.

You guys brought up a question I've wanted to ask for awhile now.
http://www.healthilluminationproducts.com/product/G7016
Our shower filter includes the Original Copper Lost Light-Life Ring™
The Original Copper Lost Light-Life Ring™ will neutralize the fluoride and any contaminant, and therefore, will no longer be negative. It changes the molecular structure of the contaminant from negative to positive. Astounding! The Original Copper Lost Light-Life Ring™ is produced from braided, twisted copper wire, 3-3/4 inches in diameter.
Could a copper ring really have this capability? It seems far-fetched, but perhaps someone who knows more about electric and frequency such as Jdp can help verify this.

Re: best shower filter on the market
That Kenrico showerhead looks nice. I never seen a showerhead like this. Coincidentally I was looking to replacing my showerhead now for the past two weeks with some filtration unit to minimize the chlorine and other contaminants. I came across an add in my whole foods magazine which brought me to this site;
http://www.waterwise.com/productcart/pc/showerwise.asp
The price seemed reasonable and the filters are suppose to last anywhere from 12-18 months. This seemed like a plus to me. Then I saw this one you mention here;
http://www.purewaterabode.com/KenricoIONShowerFilter.htm
While the price seems hefty, considering there is no filter replacement, this can pay for itself within a few years of use.
I haven't read much of what Ray Peat has spoke about but I understood that serotonin is a vital neurotransmitter for all types of things, from mental to physical health. Increases in serotonin suppose to help with anxiety, depression and well-being.
