Search function can we improve it?

I find searching on this forum difficult, like I am better off going thru all the threads. I find myself trying to search for a for a certain xyz and comes up with no results, unless it is in the topic. I would like to see a search within a thread, can this be possible?

Instead of "inside" select instead, "google" then enter search term. This solves the flaw in the internal search function.

It is not possible to use the Google as the "default" search engine? ...I mean that "Google" should be already selected when you type the word you are looking for and hit the "Go" button. Right now, "Inside" is selected by default and we have to manually change it to "Google", which is not very difficult, but the new members that don't know any better will always have the problem.
