Has anyone tried licorice root?
Just curious if it's worth a look or not. Sorry if this has already been mentioned in a previous thread.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
big mike - It would work well as a topical. Internally it's only useful for adrenal fatigue (low aldosterone & cortisol), but for the rest of us could raise blood pressure.

Big Mike, licorice has estrogen-like properties, if you've ever been sensitive to E, it might have sides as both an internal and a topical.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
i've tried deglycerized licorice for a couple of months, last year in the fall and all it did was made my ankles click all the time. I think it made my bones weak.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
I have recently started (yesterday) on this - as I am in some form of AF with low cortisol/low aldosterone scenario. I will let you know in couple weeks as to how it goes.
I was looking for Baschetti licrorice but cannot find it - the supplier is back ordered, apparently it is one of the better brands...

JKSL, I noticed something similar to that with the cracking, and I believe it comes from anything that puts too much Estro in the system, it changes the way the bones/joints work (like osteoperosis in women). Odd, but maybe that's another part of the connection.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
Well Licorice (not the DGL version) is expected to keep your cortisol from breaking down - so if you are already normal to high on cortisol, it would not be a good idea to consume copious amounts of licorice root. If so, then all the issues related with high cortisol may kick in...
upto 2g / day of the root is the suggested dosage for AF / AI conditions.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
any updates on the use of licorice?
i applied a topical solution of licorice to my acne, and it cleared it up in 2 days, the acne was most likeley the result of hyper androgenicity from taking saw pal and beta sis for 3/4 months
so has anyone been taking licorice, there was a guy on hairsite who said it has been working for him.

ive been taking it, via my doctor, for AF. 600mg a day. I am taking this in conjunction with a chinese herb blend (ginseng etc) and it has certainly given me more energy.

Re: Has anyone tried licorice root?
dude im taking so much stuff right now, i wouldnt know what is working and what isnt!
Ive been shedding a little bit since starting my regime 2 months ago and only stopping curcumin has seen a reduction. Im pretty sure licorice root wouldnt cause anything bad to the hair. I did read that it may increase blood pressure, which is good for someone like me with low blood pressure and AF.
Quite frankly im more interested in getting rid of this dry scalp and itchiness/tenderness as nothing has helped yet.
