Tribulus terrestris
CS,
Is this a hair friendly way to treat low t-levels? Does it actually work? I haven't been tested but with my medical history it's quite obvious my T is not optimal. Does it work in an adaptogenic fashion? If T is low it will raise them or if adequate it will do very little?
Thanks

Re: Tribulus terrestris
isaac - Tribulus does work if you're low testosterone. In other words, if your T is low it will raise it. If it's not low, it won't.
Tribulus is very interesting has a study has shown that it increases melanocytes, which are needed for pigmentation. An increase in melanocyte activity is probably going to help with hair growth too, but on a mild level. I had given it a few trials to see how it would respond, nothing negative whatsoever.

Thanks...
I asked because sometihng I read in the wiki "The active chemical in T. terrestris is likely to be protodioscin (PTN),[9] a cousin to DHEA" and I know DHEA can be bad if the dose is wrong. It seems safe there has been no side-effects aside from upset-stomach ever reported...i'll give it a shot. Now foods looks the best http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=-2615029573552616891&at=0
Any idea on dosage?

Re: Tribulus terrestris
According to human trials, the effective dose is 1,500 mg. That product you found looks good (same one I used before), and to make it easy, might as well take it twice per day.
Re: Tribulus terrestris
I think tribulus has a lot of promise. The studies seem conflicting regarding its ability to stimulate testosterone production. That said, I definitely think there is no doubt that it increases libido. I've used the Mediherb version before (available through Standard Process) with good success.
