Vit D3 : 5000 to 10.000 UI /day
I take for 2 months approx 1 to 2 caps of Vit D3/K2 same as CS.
I upgraded with a 5000 UI caps 2-3 weeks ago, and for the last week 10.000 UI / day ( + one D3/K2 )
Since the beginning, i experience kind of a boost with that vit D3, that is why i upgraded due to that winter day / no sun.
But, i can assure you that my skin has tanned dramaticaly.
When i touch my skin, you know, the skin keeps white for 1-2 seconds. Like a sunburn.
Is this possible ? i heard about this kind of thing but that much ? perhaps i'm taking too much but what i'm interesting to is the mechanism if this is really the culprit .
Is this the radiation from the computer scren that can give me, because those last few days i'm pretty much in front of my screen....
I'm gonna reduce to 5000 ( 6000 + K2) and eat my raw organic butter for natural K2 !

I guess Cholecalciferol (D3) is a synthetic molecule?

europe - I've noticed a similar thing in myself. I used to have a pale complexion but since I have been maintaining a 6,000 IU per day of Vitamin D3 (5,000 IU Vitamin D3 + 1,000 IU D3 + K2), I've got that more "tan" look. Considering that Vitamin D3 contains all these antimicrobial peptides, it is probably helping in the hair department.
I'm going to start taking that new product that is available 10,000 IU and take it every other day, it's got a really good price if you buy the 360 softgels version.
Regarding Vitamin D3, it's vastly superior to D2.
Vitamin K1 is found in vegetation, but does not yield the much more powerful K2, which is found in organ meats, and raw-grass-fed butter, cheeses and the soy "cheese" natto. K1 isn't going to do the magic, only K2.

Here's some interesting quotes
"Higher levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 (OH) D) may lower the risk of anemia and elevated C-reactive protein levels may raise the risk,"
"Further analysis showed that 25 (OH) D and CRP levels independently predicted hemoglobin levels. Each 10 ng/mL increment in 25 (OH) D was associated with a 29% reduced risk of anemia"
"Study findings suggest that replacing vitamin D in patients with low levels of this vitamin may boost hemoglobin levels"

Should one take the dose of 5000/10000 IU all at once or seperated in smaller doses throughout the day?
Isn't the latter preferable for better absorption?

edony - Vitamin D3 is a very long half-life and multiple doses offers no advantages. Clinically patients with autoimmune conditions who are typically found to be low on Vitamin D will have Vitamin D shots of 200,000 IU to help bolster those levels. I would suggest using 10,000 IU every other day in terms of savings, since vitamin D3 is very inexpensive, and you may notice that the dosages do not rise all that much in cost.

Re: Vit D3 : 5000 to 10.000 UI /day
Interestingly enough, even though I'm getting basically no sun exposure, the 6,000 IU of Vitamin D3 that I take a day seems to keep some color on me throughout this cold weather!
