Cheaper R-ALA?
http://ast-ss.com/Products/ProductPage.asp?ProdID=6
Looks like you can get 90 caps of 200 mg. (18,000 mg) for $35. The brand that IH linked to is only 60 caps of 100 mg. (6000 mg) for $15. The quality seems top notch, given this Q&A: http://ast-ss.com/Products/ProductPage.asp?ProdID=6

Re: Cheaper R-ALA?
Huge Caution!
If you buy any kind of R-Lipoic Acid it won't work very well.
In fact R-Lipoic Acid that is non-stablized will be even less effective than "regular" alpha lipoic acid.
The reason is polymerization. While the price is much cheaper it won't work even one-twentieth as well.

I knew that ALA degrades rapidly and therefore needs to be handled properly, but I think you are talking about absorbtion, right? I hadn't thought about that. But what about the combo ALA and ALC that you recommend on your site? I get the impression that that ALA is not Na or K stabilized.

Re: Cheaper R-ALA?
EIC - If it's ALA or alpha lipoic acid, which contains both isomers R + S, then it's quite stabile. Just not as potent as stablized R-Lipoic.
non-stablized R-Lipoic is extremely weak by the time it arrives and is used. I made the mistake once, and unfortunately many friends and colleagues have done the same. Hopefully you didn't order the stuff yet.

Nope. Planning to make my order today, actually. I guess I'll go with the Na stabilized stuff.
