scientology Empty scientology

Post  shaftless Sat Jun 25, 2022 2:50 pm

I'm in an off-topic mood. I was thinking back about how scientology was all the rage. And how they got in trouble with the IRS for not paying taxes since they are calling themselves a religion. It's still fairly popular with celebrities. I thought it had some merit when they explained that a lot of people may be emotionally blocked from past trauma and with the help of an E-meter and a trained scientologist they could expose the trauma and relive it and process it as a method of healing. Something similar of what a good therapist can do. But they lost me when supposedly dead alien spirits from another world might be attached to us and causing our grief as well. Is this in the same ranks as the flat earth society? California seems to have the biggest congregation of them.

Being that live in Commie-4-nia, you're probably right, a lot of these types seem to congregate, not so sure it's as "popular" as it once was, but who knows.

I had a run-in...not once, but twice in the employ of organisation(s) who bought into the this quasi-religion.

My guess is that it somehow captures people during a moment in their lives where they feel uncertain, maybe enough to fall into a trap.

First place used subtle tactics to lure, seemed too nuts for me. They said...."oh we only use this for our business administration." On the next run at a different place, was surprised to learn that the medical director fell for this charade.

A high price to pay for science fiction fantasy under the guise of self-help.
