Osteopontin: how to raise/regulate it naturally?
There is a new treatment in the trails called FOLLICUM that uses osteopontin protein (based on a proprietary peptide FOL-005). It has similar efficiency than Minoxidil 5%.
It is quite interesting on what principle does this work? Osteopontin is involved in some of the degenerative diseases, so maybe a natural modulating approach would be safer.
I would guess something along the lines of calcification, based on my research vitamin K2, Vitamin D3 and Magnesium can regulate this protein. Is there anything else important for inducing/regulating osteopontin?

Osteopontin promotes adipose tissue inflammation, dysfunction, and insulin resistance.
Osteopontin is prominently expressed in human hair follicles and has been reported to be elevated during catagen phases in the hair cycle.
High-phosphate conditions may lead to imbalance among the expression levels of calcification inducers, including core-binding factor α-1 (Cbfα1) and calcification inhibitors, such as matrix Gla protein (MGP) and osteopontin (OPN)

On the flip side of things, not sure it's a good idea to completely block osteopontin.
Because it is a potent inhibitor of mineralization, it prevents ectopic calcium deposits and is a potent inducible inhibitor of vascular calcification. It's all about regulation and balance and it seems very reasonable to think that both Vitamin K2 and Magnesium a role in its regulation.
