Is powdered MSM supposed to taste like chemical?

I recently switched from Drs. Best brand to Lifetime which claims 100% MSM https://www.iherb.com/pr/life-time-msm-powder-16-oz-454-g/24366
and the taste is so much different (drs.best was bland and this tastes like chemicals) and the upper area of my GI/Liver are burning for maybe 10 minutes or so feels like a die off reaction or could it be this MSM is better at killing bugs or is bad and that's why I'm feeling that way?

Might have to do with flow agents in there.

I have noticed that certain brands will taste more like chemicals than others.

The crystal form is supposed to the best, yet they all taste terrible to me, so I just take the capsules and break all
"the rules" and it still works.
