Doesn't really matter what you think, because you're young and don't understand chemistry. Not being rude here, being frank.

Excessive prolactin = hair loss, masturbation spikes prolactin. I started at your age too and at 18 did it daily. Started thinning out that year as well, and that was later exacerbated by prohormone usage along with heavy lifting 4-6 days a week at 19 years old and up.

nidhogge: i've gotten the impression that most people around here consider lifting weights to be harmless when it comes to hair loss (may be wrong). Do you have a different opinion that you could shed light on? Generally in other hair loss forums it is believed that lifting weights increases testosterone which is then converted to DHT which has detrimental effects on the hair to those who are susceptible. Sadly, lifting weights is something I do at least several times a week and really enjoy, but I'd prefer to have hair.

blech - I'll throw this out to you while you wait for Nidhogge to reply to your question.

Lifting weights can help keep insulin levels lower. More testosterone doesn't necessarily equal more DHT. Overall weight lifting is probably a good thing.

I believe in the masturbation theory too. Although I have no scientific proof.

Masturbation is something that is VERY COMMON and thus could explain why so many men are losing their hair. Especially in this day and age where this is so much easily accessible porn on the Internet. I was speaking with my hair dresser who has been cutting hair since the 80's. He said nowadays he gets tons of young men complaining about hair loss whereas that never used to happen as much before.

I think I might try what Glacier said and try abstinence for a month or more. I don't ever get any sort of pain in my scalp, but I do feel remorseful and tired after each time.

My theory is this : weight lifting with masturbation can possibly drive the conversion of test. to DHT. But it is a theory only and I have a feeling this might be possible. I will have CS wait to add to this, he can give a more detailed response in regards to the physiology involved.

just wanted to add this :

Weight Lifting without masturbation can possibly be a very beneficial - without the conversion from test. to DHT this might actually work in your favour rather than against you, instead of masturbating take your anger and remorse on the weights, it feels good.

Weight lifting also spikes cortisol levels too which result in hair loss. After observing both me and ESPECIALLY my brother's increase in hair loss from consistenty *heavy* lifting, I'm sold that bodybuilding can accelerate hair loss beyond what it naturally would occur in.

I believe that moderate exercise is fine, but I'm not one for just moderate exercise and love to lift weights. A good body will give you more confidence than a head of hair, and girls will notice too. Wink

Month may not be enough, that's the trouble I had with this, you give up but when you start again it comes back with a vengeance, so give up and forget about it. All the good work you do when you start again goes right out of the window, it's hard, but it ain't impossible. I think prolactin maybe a huge factor here, masturbation will almost always keep those levels up (chasteberry should really be in top 6) it is critical to bring prolactin levels down and let the body 'recover' to it's normal 'would be' state if there was not a constant pressure on it to deal with jacking off.

Your bro maybe be doing other stuff which is causing this, weight lifting is assisting him to lose hair, jacking off in conjuunction with weight lifting is one possible example. I also cannot do 'moderate' workouts, I did 40 sets of barbell bench presses today in under one hour, the pump and results are so much better than a few seconds of hollow ejaculation.

Hey guys, here's my 2 cents worth:

Not sure about the masturbation. As for the weight lifting and physical training, I don't think it has a huge correlation. I have lifted and trained up to more than 20 hours a week since I was 15. Only started losing hair at 45. There is unquestionably a hormonal response to training as I used to break out in zits for a week or so every time my training load changed, but it never affected my hair. I guess in my opinion the bottom line is that we are all different and as CS has identified there are so many factors involved in hair loss that to say weight training (or masturbation, for that matter) is bad for hair is stretching it a bit. It might be bad for some of us, neutral for others, or beneficial for others still.

btw...my hair loss appears to have stabilized after a couple of months on the top 6. I am convinced it has been what has tipped the scale in my favour so thanks to CS and everyone else on here for all the info, ideas and advice.

1. Sleep Sleep and deep Sleep. Make sure you give your body the rest it needs.

2. Stress - figure out how to manage stress, racing mind, and always sressed out environment. If you cannot handle it physically, reach out to anti-anxiety supplements - sups that takes the edge off of excitation and pushes you towards inhibition. Our over excitatory lifestyle and diet is one of the key problems as well. Figure out the things in your environment that are excitatory and try to avoid them. Goto bed at the most by 10ish - many chemicals in our body work around time cycles, you need to get the body in a state at the time it expects to be.

3. Perhaps take a fun Walk 20-30 minutes every day - where your sole goal is to relax and enjoy (not exercise), just enjoyment.

We all need to destress and that includes less caffeine as well...

The top 6 won't help with cortisol nearly as much as a high dosage of phosphatidylserine. I recommend EndoAmp Max from Primordial Performance.

My brother really doesn't need to jack off as he has girls for that, again...kid's 6'1, and is a big boy and has no fear of women lol. That said, I know from personal experience from being a bodybuilder and carefully observing his hair loss over the years, when we increaesd our intensity, so did the intensity of our hairloss increase. Hormones affect hair loss, it's pretty simple. However, with the supps from IH's top 6 and some additional ones, we can minimize or completely eliminate this damage.

Take the antioxidants/top-6 and whole food after a workout, eat clean, lots of fruits, brown rice, chicken and stick to it for 6 months and your hair will regrow - whats the harm, try it what do you have to lose. In between you can bang as many girls as you like.

yep, i know the Gracie family, i implemented some of their principles into my diet (concerninng the combinations of foods) All the members are very healthy but Royce looses his hair faster than his bros, he's the weakest one (i would say he's less ripped, physically weaker, more estrogenic i would say) - he's also drinking lot of milk (note sure about Rickson but i think he doesn't drink any)

concerning the masturbation and lifting: lifting on empty stomach minimizes the cortisol impact and inflammation, one shouldn't eat any carbs before lifting even if bb magasines tell the opposite

i take l-carnitin before lifting, and ALA, creatine, l-glutamine and colostrum after the workout and feel it completely

i love lifting heavy weights and my hair is better when lifting than without but one shoudn't train to failure as bbs but more as powerlifters

I was always very very weak but incorporated some new methods (Tsatsouline) and became extremely strong physically in some short time (now i'm able to do 1hand pull-ups, 50kg one hand snatch (before i couldn't clean it with both hands) or clean&press my body weight - statistically one out of 100 000 can c&p his bodyweight)

some years ago i went to a training camp to brazil, i was training only and shared a room so i couldn't (or completely forgot) to masturbate, i stay 2 months and had 2 or 3 sexual experiences not more - i became much stronger and gained easily some muscle mass that i lost after i came back to europe and started banging girls and masturbate all the time

I do not think masturbation by itself is so detrimental, perhaps it does not help if you are already insulted and are predisposed to losing hair.

It may not be helping...but to say that is the cause of your/mine MPB, I do not think so...

In my case it's doin' harm, I know that for long, noticed it from the very begining when I started losing hair. For long time I maintained my hair by only abstinence (>3 weeks) and weight training.

But isn't it curious people here state a difference between normal intercourse and masturbation (like good vs bad), but the earlyer posted study actually finds a greater spike in prolactin with normal intercourse vs masturbation...?

To my experience ejaculation does not matter. And I have really "researched" this matter in depth, often masturbated without ejaculating - same sh*t happens.

I've noticed that when I vosit my gf for the weekend I usuallt lose more hair.

So far the only thing mentioned in this thread is chasteberry to help reduce the prolactin levels. What other supps would be a good post sex meal?

I am thinking I may throw the kitchen sink at it and see what happens.

Prolactin increases 4x after an intercourse vs masturbation. Nature's way to help recuperate...

Where are the studies for MPB (emphasis on males) due to prolactin increase? and Prolactin increase spikes after ejaculation and then dwindles over time depending on the subject - in some it can last a very short period, perhaps minutes. Prolactin during and post pregnancy would be a much longer and systemic exposure.

IH, did your research found link to hyper prolactemia and Male hair loss as well?

One of my buddies at work has a pitutiary tumor (benign) and as a result has hyper prolactemia - that SOB has more hair than anyone on the floor. He has no sex drive at all, zero...
